Which ATS do Indian companies use? The short answer
There is no single ATS used by Indian companies. Usage tracks company type. Large IT services firms built their own portals. GCCs inherit their parent's global system, usually Workday or SAP SuccessFactors. Funded startups pick Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby. Enterprises pick Darwinbox. SMEs pick Keka or Zoho Recruit.

What ATS do TCS, Infosys and Wipro use?
India's IT services giants mostly do not use an off-the-shelf ATS for candidates. They hire at such volume that they built their own portals. TCS runs iBegin and NextStep. Infosys runs its own career portal. Wipro's career site follows the SuccessFactors format, with a candidate portal called Synergy.
The detail matters because these portals behave differently from Workday or Greenhouse.
Does TCS use Workday?
No, not for your job application. Candidates apply to TCS through its own portals: TCS iBegin for experienced professionals and TCS NextStep for freshers and campus hiring. TCS did announce a partnership to sell and deploy Workday for client companies, per the TCS newsroom. That is a consulting business, not its hiring system.
This confusion is common and worth clearing up. When you search TCS and Workday together, you find partnership announcements and Workday consultant openings. Neither means your TCS application touches Workday. If you apply for a TCS role, you will create an iBegin or NextStep profile, fill TCS's own forms, and track status inside TCS's own system.
The practical consequence: your iBegin profile is your resume at TCS. Recruiters search it by skill tags, experience bands and location. Complete every field, not just the upload.
What about Infosys and Wipro?
Infosys runs its own portal at career.infosys.com, with job listings served through digitalcareers.infosys.com. It is a custom system, not a branded third-party ATS front end.
Wipro posts jobs at careers.wipro.com. Look at any Wipro job URL. It follows the /job/<title>/<id>-en_US/ format, the standard SAP SuccessFactors career-site pattern. Wipro also runs a candidate portal called Synergy at synergy.wipro.com for application tracking.
The takeaway for this whole segment: expect account creation, long profile forms, and internal resume databases that recruiters search by keyword. Your uploaded PDF is a starting point. The parsed profile is what gets searched.
Which ATS do GCCs in India use?
GCCs, the India technology centres of global companies, almost always use the parent company's global ATS. That usually means Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle Recruiting or iCIMS. The India requisition sits in the same system as the New York one. You can verify this from the career page URL in seconds.
Two examples you can check right now.
Walmart Global Tech India roles sit on Walmart's global Workday instance. Bengaluru engineering openings appear at walmart.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com, with location codes like IN-KA-BANGALORE in the URL. Target's careers, including its India operations, run at target.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com. The myworkdayjobs.com domain is the giveaway in both cases.
Why do GCCs work this way? The parent already licenses one ATS worldwide. Compliance, reporting and internal mobility all live there. Standing up a separate Indian system would fragment their data. So the Hyderabad or Bengaluru role goes into the same Workday or Oracle Recruiting tenant as every other role globally.
Two consequences for you as a candidate.
First, many GCC roles never reach Naukri. The recruiting team posts to their own ATS career page, LinkedIn, and sometimes nothing else. If your search lives entirely inside one portal, entire employers are invisible to you. Our guide to applying on company career pages in India covers how to find these roles systematically.
Second, GCC applications are the long, painful kind. Workday wants a fresh candidate account per employer. It parses your resume into fields, often badly, and you correct them by hand. A single application can take 20-30 minutes. That grind is exactly what auto-apply exists to remove.
Which ATS do Indian product companies and startups use?
Funded Indian product companies overwhelmingly use the global startup stack: Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby. Razorpay's applications run through Greenhouse at job-boards.greenhouse.io/razorpaysoftwareprivatelimited. Meesho's careers page runs on Lever at jobs.lever.co/meesho. Both are live URLs you can open today.
This pattern holds across the funded ecosystem. When an Indian startup raises institutional money and scales its engineering team, it usually adopts the same recruiting tools as its global peers. Greenhouse and Lever dominate. Ashby is growing fast among newer, engineering-heavy companies.
You verify this the same way every time. Open the company's careers page. Click any job. Look at the address bar:
job-boards.greenhouse.io/<company>orboards.greenhouse.io/<company>means Greenhousejobs.lever.co/<company>means Leverjobs.ashbyhq.com/<company>means Ashby
If the company embeds the form on its own domain, scroll to the bottom of the application form. Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby all print a small "powered by" line there.
The good news about this segment: applications are short. One page, resume upload, a few custom questions, done in minutes. The catch: these companies get heavy applicant volume, and a recruiter or hiring manager often reads applications early. Your resume needs to match the job description's actual vocabulary, or it dies in the ranked list. That is a tailoring problem, and we cover the mechanics in why a generic resume gets rejected in India.
Which ATS do traditional Indian enterprises use?
Traditional Indian enterprises increasingly run Darwinbox, the Hyderabad-built HR platform with a recruitment module. Darwinbox's published customer list includes HDFC Bank, JSW, Vedanta and TVS Motor, and the company claims over 1,000 enterprise customers. Multinational-linked enterprises in manufacturing, FMCG and energy more often run SAP SuccessFactors or Oracle.
Darwinbox deserves specific attention because it is the ATS most Indian candidates have used without knowing its name. Banks, NBFCs, conglomerates and large Indian companies in the 500 to 10,000 employee range adopted it widely. The URL fingerprint is <company>.darwinbox.in. If a careers link takes you to a darwinbox.in subdomain, you know exactly what you are dealing with.
For SAP-aligned enterprises, the tell is subtler. SuccessFactors career sites usually live at careers.<company>.com with job URLs ending in a numeric ID plus a locale code like -en_US. Oracle Recruiting pages contain oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/CandidateExperience in the path, or the older taleo.net domain.
Darwinbox vs Keka vs Workday: which one will you actually meet?
Think in probabilities by employer type. Applying to an Indian bank or conglomerate? Expect Darwinbox or SuccessFactors. Applying to a mid-size Indian company or growth-stage firm? Expect Keka or Zoho Recruit. Applying to a GCC or global enterprise? Expect Workday. The segment predicts the software far better than industry does.
The three also treat your resume differently. Workday re-parses your resume into an account-based profile you must correct. Darwinbox parses into a portal-style flow, often mobile friendly, tied to the company's HR suite. Keka keeps it light: short form, quick parse, fast recruiter skim. None of them rewards a two-column designed template. All of them reward clean, keyword-accurate text.
Which ATS do Indian SMEs use?
Indian SMEs, agencies and consultancies mostly use India-native, lower-cost tools: Keka, Zoho Recruit, and sometimes Workable or Freshteam. Keka states that over 10,000 organisations use its HR platform. Zoho Recruit is standard among staffing agencies and smaller companies, often embedded directly into the company website.
Fingerprints for this segment:
<company>.keka.commeans Keka<company>.zohorecruit.comorzohorecruit.inmeans Zoho Recruitapply.workable.com/<company>means Workable
SME applications are usually the easiest: a short form and a resume upload. But do not mistake short for unfiltered. These tools ship with resume parsing and keyword search built in. A recruiter at a 200-person company still searches the parsed database by skill. If your PDF parses badly, you are just as invisible as you would be at a GCC.
How can you verify which ATS a company uses yourself?
Open any live job posting from the company and read the URL. Every major ATS leaves a fingerprint: myworkdayjobs.com is Workday, job-boards.greenhouse.io is Greenhouse, jobs.lever.co is Lever, darwinbox.in is Darwinbox, keka.com is Keka. Masked URL? Check the form footer for a "powered by" line.
A third method works when you cannot find the careers page at all. Search Google for the company name plus an ATS domain. For example, search <company> myworkdayjobs or <company> greenhouse. If the company runs that system, an indexed job page usually appears.
This check takes ten seconds and tells you three useful things. How long the application will take. Whether you need to create yet another account. And how aggressively the system will parse and rank your resume before a human sees it. The complete URL-pattern lookup table lives in our ATS job board reference guide.
Does Naukri use an ATS?
Naukri is not an ATS. It is a job board, a marketplace where thousands of employers post roles and search a shared resume database. Naukri does run its own resume parsing and ranking layer, which scores your profile. The employers behind Naukri listings then manage applicants in their own ATS, like Darwinbox or Workday.
This question comes up constantly, so let us be precise about what happens when you apply on Naukri.
First, your profile and resume live in Naukri's database. Naukri's own engine parses your resume, extracts skills and experience, and ranks you against the role. Recruiters who pay for Naukri's database access search this layer directly. This is why Naukri's own resume tools talk about ATS scores: the parsing problem is the same even though Naukri itself is a portal.
Second, at many companies, your Naukri application is then pulled into the employer's actual ATS for screening, interviews and offers. So one application can pass through two parsing engines: Naukri's, then the employer's.
The practical implication: a resume that parses cleanly wins twice. Single column, selectable text, standard headings, exact keywords. Those rules hold on Naukri's layer and on whatever ATS sits behind it. The full checklist is in our ATS resume format guide for India.
What does each ATS mean for your resume?
The core rules are universal: single column, selectable text, standard section headings, and the job description's exact keywords. On top of that base, each ATS has quirks. Workday and iCIMS re-parse your resume into editable fields. Greenhouse and Lever pass your PDF to humans early. Darwinbox and Keka search parsed text by skill.
Here is the per-system detail, kept practical.
Workday. After upload, Workday pre-fills your work history into form fields. The parser frequently mangles titles, dates and employers. Whatever appears in those fields is what the recruiter sees, not your PDF. Read and correct every field before submitting. Keep dates in one consistent format so the parser has a chance.
Oracle Recruiting and SuccessFactors. Long flows, strict validation, and keyword-driven ranking on the back end. Mirror the job description's exact phrases. Write both forms of every credential on first mention: "Chartered Accountant (CA)", "Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)". A system searching the full term will miss a resume that only carries the acronym.
Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby. The resume goes through as your PDF, and humans read early. Formatting disasters are rarer here, but keyword relevance decides whether you rank high enough to be read. The custom questions matter too. Thoughtful, specific answers separate you from the flood of one-line replies.
Darwinbox, Keka and Zoho Recruit. Parsing plus recruiter keyword search. Name every tool and skill explicitly instead of implying it. If the job wants "Kubernetes", the word Kubernetes must appear, not just "container orchestration". Our list of resume keywords for software engineers in India shows how to do this per role.
TCS iBegin and other in-house portals. The profile form is the resume. Fill skills, experience bands, locations and notice period completely. Recruiters filter by these structured fields before they ever open an attachment.
If maintaining one resume per system sounds exhausting, that is because it is. The fix is not more manual editing. The AI resume builder generates a fresh resume tailored to each job description in 10-20 seconds, as a single-column, selectable-text PDF built to parse cleanly across ATS engines.

Then the agent works. It reads 50K+ new jobs a day across the portals, scores each against your profile, and tailors a fresh resume per job description. It fills typed fields like CTC, location and notice period from your profile. Open-ended screening questions get a reasoned answer in your voice, with a confidence score. If confidence is low on a mandatory question, it pauses and asks you instead of guessing.
Applications submit server-side through your own logged-in sessions, overnight. No browser macro, nothing running on your laptop. From chat, you can batch-apply up to 10 jobs in one click, or schedule up to 25 a day. Frequently asked questions
Which ATS do most Indian companies use?
It depends on segment. IT services giants like TCS run in-house portals such as iBegin. GCCs and multinationals run Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle Recruiting or iCIMS. Funded product companies run Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby. Traditional Indian enterprises widely use Darwinbox. SMEs and agencies mostly use Keka or Zoho Recruit.
Does TCS use Workday for job applications?
No. Candidates apply to TCS through its own portals: iBegin at ibegin.tcsapps.com for experienced hires and NextStep for freshers. TCS announced a partnership to sell and deploy Workday for client companies, per the TCS newsroom, but that is consulting work, not TCS's own candidate application system.
Does Naukri use an ATS?
Naukri is a job board, not an ATS. It runs its own resume parsing and ranking engine, which scores your profile for recruiters searching its database. Employers who post on Naukri then manage applicants inside their own ATS, such as Darwinbox, Keka or Workday, so your resume may pass through two systems.
How do I know which ATS a company uses?
Open any live job posting and read the URL. myworkdayjobs.com means Workday, job-boards.greenhouse.io means Greenhouse, jobs.lever.co means Lever, darwinbox.in means Darwinbox, keka.com means Keka. If a custom domain masks the URL, scroll to the application form footer and look for a "powered by" line.
Do Indian startups use Greenhouse or Lever?
Yes, widely. Funded Indian product companies mostly run the global startup stack. Razorpay's applications run on Greenhouse at job-boards.greenhouse.io, and Meesho's careers page runs on Lever at jobs.lever.co/meesho. Ashby is growing among newer engineering-heavy startups. Smaller or bootstrapped Indian companies more often use Keka or Zoho Recruit.
The short version
The ATS used by Indian companies is predictable once you know the segment. Services giants built their own. GCCs inherited Workday or SAP. Startups picked Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby. Enterprises picked Darwinbox. SMEs picked Keka or Zoho Recruit. Ten seconds with a job URL confirms any of them.
Knowing the map is step one. Step two is not typing your history into all of them.
