Business Analyst

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Business System Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in business analysis, requirement gathering, BRD/FRD documentation, user story creation, and SQL-based data analysis. The candidate will be responsible for understanding business needs, translating them into functional and technical requirements, analyzing data, and collaborating with development and testing teams to ensure successful solution delivery.

The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to work in an Agile environment while ensuring that business requirements are accurately documented, implemented, and validated.

Job Responsibilities

1. Gather, analyze, and document business requirements by collaborating with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams.
2. Prepare and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Requirements Documents (FRD), and detailed functional specifications.
3. Translate business requirements into clear user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and functional workflows.
4. Perform business process analysis, gap analysis, impact assessment, and root cause analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
5. Work closely with development teams to clarify requirements, resolve functional queries, and ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
6. Write, optimize, and execute SQL queries to extract, validate, reconcile, and analyze data from relational databases.
7. Perform data analysis and validation to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and support business decision-making.
8. Collaborate with QA teams to define test scenarios, review test cases, support System Integration Testing (SIT), and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
9. Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews, while maintaining requirements traceability.
10. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage requirement changes, track deliverables, communicate project status, and ensure timely delivery of business solutions.

Job Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
2. Proven experience as a Business System Analyst, Business Analyst, or Functional Analyst in IT or technology-driven projects.
3. Strong expertise in business analysis methodologies, requirement elicitation, stakeholder management, and business process modelling.
4. Hands-on experience preparing BRDs, FRDs, functional specifications, user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
5. Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, aggregate functions, CTEs, and data validation techniques.
6. Experience working with relational databases and performing data analysis, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
7. Good understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and software development and testing processes.
8. Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Excel, Visio, or equivalent requirements and documentation platforms.
9. Knowledge of functional testing, test case preparation, defect tracking, SIT, UAT, and requirements traceability.
10. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
