Spinetail Media is a small studio based in Delhi, India, that aims to create diverse and engaging gameplay for story, action, and platforming-driven audiences. Our strength lies in narrative design, cultural research, and gameplay innovation.

The studio operates remotely and in a collaborative style that encourages every team member to express their ideas and creativity with confidence, making game development a fun-filled journey of learning experiences.

Role Description

As a Story Writer, you become an integral part of our small yet highly capable creative team. You will contribute to narrative design, world-building, and character design and take ownership of scripting and scenario writing for our interactive gaming and other projects. You will work collaboratively with other writers, game designers, as well as the creative leads, to build memorable characters, engaging plots, and immersive worlds that resonate with our target audience.

Qualifications

1. Passion for Entertainment: Genuine passion for storytelling experiences like gaming, films, performances, transmedia narratives, as well as awareness of the world we live in, with a deep understanding of what makes a story resonate with audiences
2. Strong Writing Skills: Exceptional storytelling and scriptwriting skills with a keen understanding of pacing, dialogue, and character development.
3. Creative Vision: Ability to think creatively and contribute original ideas that enhance the overall narrative experience.
4. Independent Learning: Initiative and ability to meet timelines, prioritize tasks, conduct research, and pursue learning opportunities
5. Collaborative Mindset: Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
6. Adaptability: Comfortable adapting to interactive storytelling's unique challenges and requirements in the gaming and movie industry.
7. Proven Experience: Previous experience as a story writer for interactive games, movies, or a related field, with a portfolio showcasing your work. However, we will be willing to consider beginners with exceptional skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Plot and Scenario-Building: Create rich and immersive storylines that drive the overall narrative of interactive games and movies.
2. Character Creation: Craft well-defined and relatable characters with depth, motivations, and arcs that enhance the storytelling experience and provide enough context to help design them visually and narratively.
3. World Building: Conduct independent researchto build lore,design imaginative and immersive worlds to enhance the player/viewer experience, and contribute to the overall narrative.
4. Player Communication: Write game instructions to ensure that the player's learning curve is steady, simple, and immersive. Depending on work distribution, this may feed into community-building and promotional writing for Spinetail's IPs on various platforms.
5. Documentation: Document research, processes, task lists, etc, and contribute to the Game / Lore Bible to maintain coherence across IP's and support the organization's professional growth.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with game designers, creative directors, and other team members to integrate the narrative seamlessly into the interactive elements of games and movies.
7. Industry Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and storytelling techniques to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the team.
