    About this role

Dharamsala Animal Rescue | Dharamsala, India

    Full-time, on-site

At Dharamsala Animal Rescue (DAR), we work to end human–street dog conflict through rescue, veterinary care, sterilization, rabies vaccination, and education. We are looking for an energetic, outgoing storyteller who loves dogs and can bring our daily work to life through photos, videos, and stories.

You will work closely with our veterinary and outreach teams, staff, volunteers, and community members to document what happens at DAR. We prefer a documentary style that captures real moments, meaningful relationships, and the progress of the dogs in our care.

Your content will support social media, crowdfunding campaigns, fundraising appeals, newsletters, and grant applications. You will also organize the photos, videos, and story details so everyone who needs them can easily find and use them.

    What you will do
    • Capture photos and videos of rescues, treatments, recoveries, daily shelter life, outreach, education programs, and community interactions.
    • Follow dogs stories over time, gathering before-and-after footage, progress updates, and accurate details.
    • Work closely with our Social Media Manager, crowdfunding fundraiser, and CEO/Head Fundraiser to understand their needs, plan content collection, and meet deadlines.
    • Must take initiative to find stories, suggest creative ideas, and capture important moments without waiting for someone to assign tasks.
    • Build relationships with our veterinary, outreach, and management teams, volunteers, and community members to gather stories and arrange interviews.
    • Upload, label, and organize photos, videos, and story information in DAR's systems so team members can easily access them.
    • Use shared spreadsheets to track content requests, story progress, and deadlines.
    • Post 3–6 Instagram Stories each day to give followers a window into our daily work.
    • Capture content respectfully, following the veterinary team's guidance and keeping animal welfare at the center of your work.
    Who we are looking for
    • Someone who loves dogs. This is essential. You must be comfortable working closely with street dogs and dogs receiving medical care.
    • Fluency in Hindi and English, with the ability to conduct interviews, gather accurate story details, and communicate clearly with staff, community members, and colleagues and on video.
    • An energetic, outgoing, and curious person who enjoys connecting with people, asking questions, and working across teams.
    • A creative storyteller with a good eye for meaningful photos and videos.
    • Someone who understands that a fundraising appeal, a social media post, and a grant application may need different footage and information.
    • A proactive, reliable person who follows through, meets deadlines, and takes responsibility for getting the content needed.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep a shared content collection easy to search and use.
    • Experience using Google Workspace, including Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets, as well as Google Photos, to organize content, track requests, and share materials.
    • Experience capturing and editing photos and short videos, including content filmed on a smartphone.
    • Clear communication skills and the ability to gather and record accurate story details.
