About this role
The US Accounting and Tax Professional is a full-time, on-site role at our Pune office. You will prepare and review US federal and state returns for individuals, businesses and CPA firm clients, handle cross-border filings, and manage bookkeeping engagements end to end. You will work directly with US clients and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review US individual and business returns: Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065 and related schedules, with K-1s
- Prepare international information returns: Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, FBAR (FinCEN 114) and Form 8938
- Handle multi-state income tax filings, extensions, estimated tax computations and amended returns
- Manage bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online and Xero: bank and credit card reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statements
- Prepare workpapers that tie back to source documents, and clear reviewer comments promptly
- Draft responses to IRS and state notices, and support penalty abatement requests
- Communicate with US clients and CPA firm partners by email and call: request documents, explain positions and meet deadlines
- Review work of junior staff, and help train them on US tax concepts and firm processes
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of hands-on US tax experience, preferably in a US CPA firm, a Big 4 firm or a US outsourcing firm
CA, CPA, EA, CMA (US), or a Master's in Accounting or Finance. Candidates who have cleared or are pursuing the EA or CPA are preferred
- Working knowledge of US individual and corporate taxation; exposure to partnerships and international forms is a strong plus
- Experience with professional tax software (UltraTax, CCH Axcess, Lacerte, Drake or similar) and QuickBooks Online
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to build clean, easy-to-review workpapers
- Clear written and spoken English for direct client communication
- Willingness to work extended hours during US filing deadlines (April, September and October)
