About Treasury

The Treasury department is responsible for proprietary trading activities, supervising the Bank's funding position and maintaining its regulatory reserve requirements and other activities. It invests in sovereign and corporate debt instruments and engages in proprietary trading in equity and fixed income securities, foreign exchange, currency futures and options. The division further governs the Bank's investments in commercial paper, mutual funds and floating rate instruments as part of the management of short-term surplus liquidity. Moreover, it offers a wide range of treasury products and services to corporate customers

About the Role
The Head Rates Trading is responsible for leading the Bank's rates trading business across government securities, corporate bonds, short term commercial papers and certificate of deposits etc. The role will drive trading income and market-making capabilities within approved risk limits, while maintaining strong governance, regulatory compliance and disciplined balance-sheet usage. The incumbent will provide leadership to the trading desk, partner with relevant Treasury and client-facing teams. The primary dealership business of the Bank also needs to be overseen by the candidate.

Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the strategy for the Rates Trading desk across government securities, corporate bonds etc.
Deliver sustainable trading income through disciplined market-making, relative-value and positioning strategies within approved risk appetite and limits.
Maintain close oversight of desk P&L, market risk, liquidity, capital usage, valuation, limits and stress outcomes, and take timely corrective action when required.
Provide competitive pricing and execution support to client-facing teams, enabling growth in institutional and corporate rates business while managing market and conduct risk.
Monitor macroeconomic developments, yield-curve movements, monetary policy, liquidity conditions, flows and market positioning to identify risks and opportunities.
Partner with Market Risk, Finance, Product Control, Compliance, Legal, Operations and Technology to ensure robust controls, accurate valuation and seamless trade execution and settlement.
Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, market conduct standards, internal policies and desk-level operating controls.
Strengthen the Bank's franchise and market presence through active engagement with regulators, exchanges, clearing corporations, counterparties and other market participants, as appropriate.
Lead, develop and mentor the Rates Trading team, strengthening market judgement, risk discipline, technical capability and accountability.

Qualifications
Preferably MBA (Finance) / Chartered Accountant / CFA or equivalent qualification.
Significant experience in rates or fixed-income trading, with a strong track record of managing trading books, market risk and desk performance.

Role Proficiencies:
Deep understanding of financial markets, yield-curve dynamics, valuation and hedging strategies.
Strong command of market risk measures, P&L drivers, stress testing, liquidity and limit management.
Sound knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, market conduct standards and control frameworks.
Strong leadership, decision-making and senior stakeholder management capabilities.
