About this role
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Traffic Manager to manage day-to-day transportation operations, vehicle placement, dispatch planning, transporter coordination, and delivery tracking.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely vehicle placement, smooth movement of shipments, effective transporter management, and on-time delivery while maintaining operational efficiency and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily vehicle placement and dispatch operations as per customer requirements.
Coordinate with transporters, truck owners, drivers, clients, and internal operations teams.
Ensure timely placement of vehicles against daily indents.
Monitor vehicle reporting, loading, dispatch, transit, unloading, and delivery status.
Plan and allocate vehicles based on vehicle type, capacity, route, and customer requirements.
Maintain a strong network of transporters and individual truck owners.
Negotiate freight rates with transporters while ensuring cost-effective operations.
Follow up on delayed vehicles, detention, loading/unloading issues, and transit delays.
Track vehicles and provide regular movement updates to customers and management.
Coordinate with the operations team for D-1 planning and next-day vehicle requirements.
Ensure proper documentation including LR, POD, invoice, e-way bill, and other transport documents.
Follow up for POD collection and ensure timely submission for billing.
Monitor transporter performance, vehicle availability, and service quality.
Resolve operational issues related to vehicle placement, route, detention, unloading, and delivery.
Maintain daily MIS covering indents, vehicle placement, dispatch, pending vehicles, transit, and delivery status.
Support the Operations Manager in improving vehicle utilization and reducing transportation costs.
Develop new transporter/vendor relationships in different locations.
Ensure compliance with customer and company transportation processes.
Escalate critical operational issues to management with suitable solutions.

Required Skills
Good knowledge of transportation and logistics operations.
Strong transporter and truck-owner networking skills.
Good negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple vehicles and routes simultaneously.
Good knowledge of different vehicle types and load capacities.
Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict timelines.
Good knowledge of MS Excel / Google Sheets and basic MIS reporting.
Knowledge of TMS/transportation management software will be an advantage.
Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
Qualification
Graduate in any discipline. Transportation Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
2–4 years of experience in transportation, logistics, freight operations, dispatch, fleet management, or a similar role.
Candidates currently working with transport companies, 3PL companies, logistics service providers, FMCG, manufacturing, or distribution companies will be preferred.
