Textile Sourcer / Merchandiser

Role Description The Textile Sourcer is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and onboarding textile suppliers and mills that meet Bidancer's quality, cost, and delivery standards. Day-to-day tasks include sourcing fabrics and trims, negotiating pricing and terms, assessing quality and compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. The Textile Sourcer collaborates with design, merchandising, and production teams to align materials with product requirements and timelines. The role also involves monitoring market trends, tracking orders, resolving supply issues, and maintaining accurate documentation and databases for all sourcing activities.

Qualifications

• Experience of 5+ years in textile sourcing, procurement, or merchandising, with a solid understanding of fabrics, trims, and garment construction.
• Knowledge of textile supply chains, including mills, converters, and vendors, and familiarity with cost analysis and negotiation.
• Ability to assess material quality and compliance, including knowledge of industry standards, testing requirements, and certifications.
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Proficiency in using spreadsheets, ERP or sourcing tools, and maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple sourcing projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in textiles, fashion, supply chain, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in the Mumbai textile market or regional supplier base is an advantage.
