Technical Project Manager - Cloud & Data Migration

About the Role:

Koantek is looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to manage cloud migration, data migration, and data modernization projects.

The role focuses on project planning, delivery management, stakeholder communication, risk management, and coordination of cross-functional technical teams.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of cloud and data technologies, along with hands-on experience managing technology projects from initiation to delivery.

This is primarily a project management and delivery role and does not require day-to-day coding or software development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage cloud migration, data migration, data modernization, and data engineering projects from initiation through successful delivery.

- Define project scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.

- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, resource allocation plans, and delivery trackers.

- Coordinate with data engineers, cloud engineers, data scientists, architects, and other technical teams to ensure timely project execution.

- Monitor project progress against agreed timelines, budgets, scope, quality standards, and delivery milestones.

- Conduct regular project status meetings and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and issues to internal and external stakeholders.

- Establish project governance frameworks, reporting mechanisms, escalation procedures, and risk mitigation plans.

- Identify potential delivery challenges and proactively implement corrective actions to minimize project delays and cost overruns.

- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment between client requirements, technical teams, and business objectives.

- Track project dependencies, resource utilization, effort estimates, change requests, and delivery commitments.

- Ensure project documentation, status reports, meeting minutes, RAID logs, and other governance artefacts are maintained accurately.

- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog reviews, retrospectives, and delivery reviews where applicable.

- Collaborate with technical leads and architects to understand cloud solutions, migration approaches, data platforms, and implementation dependencies.

- Ensure adherence to agreed quality standards, project management practices, and delivery processes.

- Drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and effective communication across distributed teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Graduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

- 6 - 10 years of overall IT experience, including project management, delivery management, or technical program coordination.

- At least 2 years of experience managing cloud data engagements involving data migration, data lake or data warehouse implementation, data engineering, or data modernization.

- Good understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

- Familiarity with modern data technologies such as Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, data lakes, and data warehouses.

- Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Trello, Zoho Projects, or Redmine.

- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, project planning, resource management, risk management, and change management.

- Strong stakeholder management, communication, presentation, problem-solving, and team coordination skills.

- Ability to manage distributed teams and multiple project priorities in a remote working environment.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

- Experience managing enterprise cloud migration and data modernization projects.

- Ability to understand technical discussions and translate them into project plans, timelines, dependencies, and delivery commitments.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams comprising engineering, architecture, infrastructure, and data professionals.

- Strong focus on delivery governance, client satisfaction, project reporting, and timely execution.
