Technical Director - Data Centers (Electrical)

Location: India, all locations (Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai)

Grade: Technical Director

Role purpose

• Lead the technical delivery and reputation of Egis's data centre electrical design offer across India
• Act as the senior electrical authority on hyperscale and colocation programmes, from concept through to handover
• Combine technical leadership with client engagement, bid support and P&L accountability

Key responsibilities

• Provide electrical discipline leadership on hyperscale and colocation data centre projects
• Set and uphold design standards, QA/QC and technical governance
• Lead client presentations, design reviews and technical interviews at senior level
• Support bids and proposals, including strategy, scope, resourcing and fee build up
• Own P&L performance for the electrical discipline: utilisation, margin, forecasting and resource planning
• Coach, mentor and develop senior engineers and team leads
• Work with BIM and digital teams to drive coordinated, efficient delivery
• Build relationships with hyperscalers, colocation operators, developers, utilities and contractors

Discipline focus: Electrical

• Medium and low voltage distribution for hyperscale and colocation facilities
• Utility and grid interface, including substations and power procurement strategy
• Standby power, UPS, battery energy storage and generator strategy
• Resilience topologies (N+1, 2N, distributed redundant) and high power density design
• Energy efficiency and input to testing and commissioning
• Coordination with mechanical, architecture, structure and BIM teams

Essential experience and skills

• 18+ years in electrical engineering, with 8+ years in data centres
• Proven delivery of hyperscale and colocation facilities, ideally multi site and multi region
• Prior experience at Director, Associate Director or Technical Director level
• Track record of managing a P&L or significant commercial responsibility
• Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills, comfortable with C level and client stakeholders
• Strong coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams, with a working knowledge of BIM
• Chartered or professionally qualified engineer (CEng or equivalent), registered with a relevant professional body
• Degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline

• Experience working on international or multicultural teams
• Experience building or scaling a data centre practice
