Role Description:

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with deep AWS and DevOps expertise to join our Platform Engineering Squad within the Data organization.Our team builds and operates secure, scalable, and reusable platform capabilities for Data Engineering, Analytics, and business-facing data teams. We reduce cognitive load by abstracting infrastructure provisioning, networking, identity, security, CI/CD, monitoring, deployment, and operational complexity through reusable software, Terraform modules, shared libraries, and automation.This is an AWS platform engineering role with a DevOps and cloud-infrastructure specialization. You will build and operate the foundational cloud capabilities that support data platforms, internally developed applications, microservices, and third-party SaaS systems.You will work closely with Data-focused Platform Engineers to provide a complete platform spanning AWS data services, compute, networking, identity, CI/CD, security, observability, and operations.

Required Experience & Skills:

• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering, or software development.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating production workloads on AWS.
• Strong experience with Terraform, including reusable module development, state management, testing, and multi-environment infrastructure deployments.
• Strong experience with AWS compute, container, serverless, and networking services, including EC2, ECS/Fargate, ECR, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong programming or automation skills in at least one general-purpose language, preferably Python.
• Experience with additional languages or technologies such as Groovy, Java, Node.js, TypeScript, or React is valuable.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, Maven, Docker, or comparable technologies.
• Strong understanding of AWS IAM, including roles, policies, resource policies, permission boundaries, cross-account access, and least-privilege design.
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, gateways, endpoints, DNS, security groups, and private connectivity.
• Experience deploying and operating microservices, containerized applications, or serverless workloads.
• Experience implementing production monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-response practices.
• Strong Git knowledge, including pull requests, rebasing, conflict resolution, branching strategies, and release management.
• Demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and onboard them for use by other teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and technical-documentation skills.
• Ability to independently lead technical initiatives from design through production operation.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, problem-solving and mentoring skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience integrating identity and access-management technologies such as Okta, Amazon Cognito, OAuth/OIDC, or SCIM.
• Experience with Amazon Verified Permissions or Cedar policies.
• Experience operating third-party SaaS platforms and enterprise integrations.
• Experience with Kubernetes or Amazon EKS.
• Experience with multi-account AWS environments, organizational guardrails, and centralized platform services.
• Familiarity with AWS data services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lake Formation, Kinesis, and DynamoDB.
• Understanding of data engineering and ETL/ELT workloads.
• Experience with CloudWatch, New Relic, Prisma Cloud, or Snyk.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure capabilities.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and agent-based automation.
• Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry.
• Understanding of HIPAA security and privacy requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and highly available AWS platform infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules for networking, compute, containers, serverless applications, security, monitoring, and identity services.
• Provision and manage AWS services such as VPC, EC2, EBS, ECR, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, autoscaling, load balancers, Route 53, CloudWatch, SNS, and SQS.
• Design secure networking patterns involving VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, gateways, VPC endpoints, private connectivity, and cross-account communication.
• Build and maintain CI/CD capabilities for infrastructure, microservices, containerized applications, serverless workloads, and platform components.
• Develop reusable libraries, APIs, command-line tools, templates, and automation, primarily in Python or Groovy.
• Strong general programming skills in at least one general-purpose language, preferably Python.
• Contribute to applications written in Java, Node.js, TypeScript, React, or other languages when needed.
• Operate internally developed applications and third-party SaaS systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, observability, and maintainability.
• Design and implement identity, authentication, authorization, and provisioning integrations using IAM, Okta, Amazon Cognito, OAuth/OIDC, SCIM, and related technologies.
• Evaluate and onboard emerging technologies such as Amazon Verified Permissions and Cedar-based authorization.
• Establish platform standards for logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, auditing, service health, and operational dashboards.
• Address security vulnerabilities and compliance findings in partnership with Security and IT teams using tools such as Prisma Cloud and Snyk.
• Implement automated patching, dependency upgrades, certificate management, backup, recovery, and lifecycle-management processes.
• Improve developer productivity by removing deployment bottlenecks and delivering secure self-service capabilities.
• Support capacity planning, performance optimization, resilience, disaster recovery, and AWS cost optimization.
• Own platform components throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, scaling, incident response, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Lead technical projects independently and document architecture, decisions, operating procedures, recovery processes, and support expectations.
• Collaborate with Data-focused Platform Engineers, Data Engineers, application developers, Analytics, QA, Security, and IT teams.
