Senior Engineer, API Access and Sharing Platform
The API Access and Sharing Platform team is responsible for building the foundational systems that enable collaboration across the Postman product. The team takes the core capabilities every product depends on and turns them into centralised platform systems that work for everyone. These capabilities include sharing and access, workflows, entity relationships, presence, commenting, and activity feeds.
As a Senior Engineer, you'll design and build these foundational services, lead migrations of high-traffic systems onto them, and help raise reliability and operational excellence across the platform. Your work will directly shape how good is the Product experience for our customers and how fast all of Postman can ship.
Responsibilities
- Drive Architectural Evolution: Identify and champion initiatives that drive architectural improvement and innovation across Postman foundation systems.
- Enhance System Maturity: Take ownership of the maturation of existing systems, defining initiatives to enhance functionality, reliability, and performance.
- Own Systems Architecting: Lead the architecture and design of systems, partnering with stakeholders to ensure robust functionality and strategic integration.
- Shape the Future of API Foundation: Contribute to the development and maturity of tier 0 central systems and collaboration a dynamic, cross-functional team across different domains.
- Lead Mentor: Offer technical leadership and mentorship to your fellow engineers, sharing best practices and elevating our collective expertise.
- Shape Our Path: Be an integral contributor to roadmap planning, coordinating with all stakeholders to align our products with strategic goals.
Requirements
- Cloud and Distributed Systems Expert: You bring experience with cloud computing and distributed systems, having worked on customer-facing systems at scale.
- Database Expert: Your knowledge of database fundamentals and data storage principles is solid.
- Experienced Builder: With at least 6+ years of experience building applications in high-level programming languages - especially Javascript. We primarily code in Javascript.
- Versatile Developer: A fair understanding of front-end technologies, networking, AI at a fundamental level, and proficiency in Backend engineering characterize your skill set.
- Curious Learner: An insatiable curiosity moves you to understand how things work and to constantly learn, absorb, and share new knowledge.
- Code Craftsperson: Your code is testable, maintainable, and easy to understand by others.
- Communicator: You can demystify technical concepts, effectively sharing knowledge with product managers, designers, support, and other engineers.
