Job Summary

IG Defence is looking for a skilled Propulsion Engineer – Solid Rocket Motor to support propulsion research and development, engineering analysis, prototype development, and testing activities. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience in solid rocket propulsion, propellant development, rocket motor performance analysis, and propulsion testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Support solid propulsion R&D, engineering analysis, and prototype development.
• Contribute to propellant development, characterization, and process documentation.
• Perform rocket motor performance calculations and internal ballistics analysis.
• Support nozzle performance, thermal protection, and structural analysis.
• Assist with propulsion testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and test-result analysis.
• Conduct failure investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports, test plans, engineering specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Coordinate with mechanical, manufacturing, materials, and testing teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, quality standards, traceability, and safety compliance.

Required Skills

• Solid rocket propulsion and combustion principles.
• Propellant development and characterization.
• Internal ballistics and rocket motor performance analysis.
• Convergent-divergent nozzle fundamentals and compressible flow.
• Thermal protection, heat transfer, insulation, and material selection.
• Propulsion testing and experimental data analysis.
• Working knowledge of MATLAB, Python, and MS Excel.
• CAD and engineering analysis tools will be an added advantage.

Educational Qualifications

B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Propulsion Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

3–5 years of relevant experience in solid rocket propulsion, propellant development, rocket motor R&D, propulsion testing, or aerospace/defence engineering.
