Software Engineer, Staff - Java

As the world's leading provider of AI-powered solutions for social impact, Blackbaud is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help build and enhance the technology that empowers purpose-driven organizations around the world. In this role, you'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, partnering with engineers, product leaders, and user experience professionals to deliver reliable, scalable applications that help our customers move faster with confidence and create greater impact. Your expertise in modern software development, technical collaboration, and continuous improvement will help drive innovation while expanding what's possible for the people and organizations changing the world.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality software solutions that are scalable, reliable, and easy to support.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance application performance, user experience, and development processes.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
• Partner with engineers and user experience teams to translate design concepts into accessible, standards-compliant web experiences.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and help shape effective, long-term architectural decisions.
• Support Agile delivery by actively participating in sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives, and other Scrum ceremonies.
• Maintain strong engineering standards through code quality practices, operational excellence, and ongoing support of delivered solutions.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality, and actively experiment with emerging capabilities as they evolve.
  
  

What You'll Bring

• 2 to 5 years of experience designing and developing applications using Java.
• Experience with modern web technologies including JavaScript or TypeScript, Angular, CSS, and HTML.
• Experience working with Tomcat, Linux, and Jenkins in software development environments.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and/or Cosmos DB databases.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented development principles and software engineering best practices.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful services and APIs, along with source control tools such as Git and continuous integration systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-based application development on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, and the ability to deliver secure, high-quality, operable software.
