This role offers the opportunity to partner with healthcare providers, architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary specialists to develop evidence-based planning solutions that improve operational performance and support exceptional patient experiences. You'll have visible impact on project outcomes while helping to guide and develop junior healthcare planners within the team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead medical planning, master facility planning, and functional space planning for healthcare projects ranging from 80,000 to 800,000+ sq. ft.

    • Apply evidence-based design principles and healthcare planning best practices to support positive patient outcomes and efficient clinical operations.
    • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and specialist consultants to integrate medical planning requirements into the overall facility design.
    • Facilitate user group meetings with healthcare stakeholders to gather operational requirements and validate planning solutions.
    • Develop and oversee functional programs, space matrices, and departmental planning layouts.
    • Review medical planning deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with FGI, ADA, and applicable local building codes.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior planners, supporting team capability development.
    • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and healthcare planning tools to develop and communicate planning and design solutions.

    Here's what you'll need

    Essential Requirements

    • Demonstrated ability to lead healthcare planning and design activities for complex healthcare facility projects.
    • Typically demonstrated through 10+ years of healthcare planning and design experience on complex healthcare facility projects.
    • Ability to translate clinical and operational requirements into effective facility planning solutions.
    • Knowledge of clinical operations, healthcare regulations, and medical equipment planning principles.
    • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, including leading user group meetings and workshops.
    • Ability to develop functional programs, medical planning, space planning documentation, and departmental layouts.

    • Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with multidisciplinary project teams.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent healthcare projects.
    • Collaborative leadership skills, including mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in Architecture, Healthcare Design, or a related discipline.
    • Professional certification in healthcare planning (e.g., ACHA, EDAC).
    • Experience contributing to international healthcare projects.
