Senior Exploration Geologist

Company Description GEMCO KATI Exploration P. Ltd. is one of the oldest and most experienced exploration drilling companies in central India, headquartered in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, and established in 1980. In 2011, European core drilling company Oy Kati Ab acquired a 40% stake, making GEMCO KATI the only Indo-Finnish joint venture in mineral exploration and a Notified Private Exploration Agency (NEA) by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.

The company operates a large fleet of hydrostatic, hydraulic, and conventional rigs, delivering high-capacity drilling up to 1,000 meters across multiple commodities. The organization serves leading clients including Tata Steel, SAIL, Odisha Mining Corporation, and Geological Survey of India, offering services from topographic surveys and geological mapping to diamond core drilling and turnkey projects.

Role Description The Senior Exploration Geologist will lead and manage geological exploration programs, from planning through to reporting, for various mineral projects. This full-time, on-site role is based in Chandrapur and involves supervising field teams, overseeing drilling operations, and ensuring high-quality geological mapping, core logging, and sampling.

The role includes designing and implementing exploration strategies, coordinating with drilling and surveying teams, and integrating geochemical and geological data to define mineralization and resource potential.

The Senior Exploration Geologist will prepare technical reports, sections, and plans; support geo-magnetic and other geophysical surveys; and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Regular communication with internal stakeholders and clients to present findings, progress updates, and recommendations is a key part of the day-to-day responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Geological Mapping and preparation of plans, sections, and geological reports.
• Experience in Drilling operations, including diamond core drilling and coordination with rig teams.
• Proficiency in Core Logging and Logging of drill holes, with attention to lithology, structure, and mineralization.
• Knowledge of Geochemistry, sampling protocols, and data interpretation for mineral exploration.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Several years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, preferably in coal, iron ore, manganese, or limestone projects.
• Familiarity with geological and drilling software (e.g., GIS, mine planning or logging tools) and data management practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field teams, work safely in remote environments
