Security Advisory Specialist

Role Summary

Responsible for assessing security implications of emerging technologies, telecom evolutions, infrastructure deployments, and novel attack techniques. Produces actionable security advisories that guide engineering, operations, and leadership toward secure adoption.

Key Responsibilities

1. Risk Emerging Technology Security Assessment

a. Evaluate security posture of new technologies such as 5G, cloud-native platforms, edge computing, Open RAN, AI-driven networks, Fixed wireless access, VoNR, VoLTE , VoIP, WebRTC and future telecom evolutions.

b. Identify systemic risks introduced by architectural shifts.

c. Publish structured security advisories prior to large-scale adoption.

2. Security Advisory Development

a. Produce high-quality advisories covering:

I. New telecom technologies

II. Data center deployments

III. IP transport evolution

IV. Virtualization platforms

V. Network exposure risks

b. Clearly define:

i. Threat scenario

ii. Likelihood

iii. Blast radius

iv. Mitigation strategy

v. Residual risk

3. Attack Intelligence Translation

Analyze emerging attack techniques and convert them into defensive guidance.

4. Data Center & Infrastructure Advisory

a. Provide security recommendations for new DC builds, expansions, and modernization initiatives.

b. Evaluate segmentation, control planes, physical-logical convergence, and resilience patterns.

5. Cross-Functional Influence

a. Work with architecture, engineering, SOC, and leadership teams.

b. Ensure advisories are understood and adopted

Required Skills

a. Strong understanding of telecom architectures

b. Threat modeling capability

c. Ability to interpret threat intelligence

d. Security architecture awareness

e. Analytical writing skills

f. Comfortable operating in ambiguity

Telecom & Standards Knowledge (Mandatory)

Candidate should demonstrate familiarity with telecom security frameworks and architectural standards including:

1) GSMA security frameworks and fraud prevention guidance

2) 3GPP security architecture and specifications

3) ENISA telecom security guidelines

4) NIST cybersecurity frameworks and risk practices

5) ETSI telecom security standards

6) Broadband Forum guidelines

7) Country specific regulatory requirements

8) MiTRE FiGHT and GSMA MoTIF deep understanding
