SAP Expert (Functional-Data)

Project context: A global food and agri-ingredients company is building a portfolio of 50+ AI agents on top of its ERP data. The agents get their data from SAP ECC/S/4HANA across many modules. That data has to be extracted correctly, modelled with the right business logic and reconciled to SAP standard reports.

Role summary: You are the SAP subject-matter expert behind the agents. You find the right SAP data, explain the business logic inside it, and confirm that agent answers match SAP.

Key responsibilities

• Map each agent's business questions to SAP modules, tables, transactions and standard reports:
• FI/CO: AP/AR (open items, ageing, dunning/collections), bank statements and receipts, GL/trial balance, cost centres, profit centres, CO-PA, cost budget vs actuals, product costing (standard vs actual)
• MM: purchase contracts, POs, GRN, invoice verification, inventory movements, stock in transit, perpetual inventory, indirect/non-commodity procurement
• SD: sales contracts, orders, deliveries, shipments, billing, pricing and price fixing, returns and credit notes
• PP / PP-PI: process and planned orders, confirmations, reservations, goods movements, MES integration
• QM: inspection lots, results, usage decisions, sampling, quality notifications and complaints
• Batch management: batch where-used and traceability, bill of lading
• Commodity/Treasury: futures and options, positions, mark-to-market, FX exposure, credit and counterparty limits
• HR, C4C/CRM and BPC: employee and org data, opportunities and account plans, planning and consolidation data
• Explain key SAP logic to the data and AI teams: movement types, document flow, status fields, posting keys, currencies and FX translation, org structure (company code, plant, sales org), fiscal periods and period close.
• Specify how to extract data: full or delta loads, CDS views, extractors, BAPIs, IDocs and change pointers.
• Define master data rules for material, customer, vendor and batch, and set data quality checks at the source.
• Reconcile agent answers to SAP standard reports (e.g. FBL1N/FBL5N, MB5B, ME2M, VA05, CO-PA reports) and sign off accuracy.
• Help the Lead BA during workshops and UAT. Fix issues with data gaps or business logic.

Must have

• 10+ years in SAP, with deep functional knowledge of at least two of FI/CO, MM, SD, PP/QM, and working knowledge of the rest.
• Strong grasp of the SAP data model and table relationships (e.g. BKPF/BSEG/ACDOCA, EKKO/EKPO, VBAK/VBAP/LIKP/VBRK, MSEG/MATDOC, AUFK/AFKO, QALS).
• Hands-on experience extracting SAP data into BI or data platforms, plus strong SQL.
• Experience in commodity, agri, food or process manufacturing, including batch management, quality and traceability.

Nice to have

• Experience with S/4HANA, CDS views, SAP BW/4HANA or Datasphere.
• SAP commodity management, treasury, or credit management (FSCM) experience.
• Has supported GenAI or analytics programmes on SAP data.
• SAP certification in FI/CO, MM, SD or PP.
