    About this role

    Role Overview

AlmaBay is hiring Regional Business Heads who will run their territory as its CEO: owning growth, relationships, people and revenue end to end. This is a senior, externally facing leadership role for someone already known and trusted in the higher education ecosystem, who can open doors at the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor level and turn those relationships into a durable business pipeline.

    Designation: Regional Business Head

Open territories: NCR; Pune-Mumbai; Bangalore; Hyderabad; Bhopal; Lucknow; Kolkata

Experience: Minimum 14 years, with a substantial part in higher education or education-linked business

Team: Leads the regional team (sales, partnerships and support staff)

Compensation: Fixed salary plus performance-linked incentive

    Key responsibilities

    Territory leadership (CEO mindset)

    • Own the regional P&L: revenue, margin, collections and cost discipline.
    • Set the regional strategy and annual business plan, and present progress to the leadership team and board with clarity and conviction.
    • Act as the single accountable owner of the company's brand, reputation and customer outcomes in the territory.

    Senior relationships and business pipeline

    • Leverage and expand relationships with Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, Pro-VCs, Directors and trustees of universities and institutions.
    • Build and review a strong, qualified pipeline across new institutions and expansion of existing accounts.
    • Lead high-level negotiations, partnerships and closures, and keep key accounts healthy through regular senior engagement.

    Team leadership

    • Hire, mentor and retain a high-performing regional team, with clear targets and a regular review rhythm.
    • Build second-line leaders and a culture of accountability and ownership.

    External representation

    • Represent the company at conferences, summits, panels and institutional forums as a confident speaker and thought leader.
    • Engage with industry bodies, regulators, media and ecosystem partners to strengthen the company's standing in the region.

    Market intelligence and cross-functional work

    • Track competitors, policy changes (such as NEP, UGC and AICTE developments) and emerging needs of institutions, and feed these back into product and strategy.
    • Work closely with product, delivery, finance and marketing teams to ensure promises made to institutions are delivered.

    Required profile

    Must have

    • Minimum 14 years of experience, with proven leadership of a business, region or large team.
    • An existing, credible network at Chancellor and Vice Chancellor level in higher education in the chosen region, with a track record of converting such access into business.
    • Boardroom presence: the ability to hold the room, handle tough questions and earn the trust of senior academic and corporate leaders.
    • Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with experience presenting at conferences, panels or large forums.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a sales pipeline and close large, long-cycle institutional deals.
    • Experience leading and developing a regional team.
    • Willingness to travel extensively within the region and to the head office.

    Good to have

    • Experience in EdTech, university partnerships, or enterprise and institutional sales.
    • Understanding of the regulatory and accreditation landscape (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NIRF).
    • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

    Personal attributes

    • Strategic and entrepreneurial, comfortable with ownership and accountability for results.
    • Credible, composed and persuasive, with high integrity in dealing with institutions.

    Key performance indicators

Revenue and margin: Achievement against the annual regional target and profitability

Pipeline health: Value, quality and conversion of the qualified pipeline each quarter

New institution wins: Number and size of new partnerships signed in the region

Account growth and retention: Renewals and expansion within existing institutions

Senior engagement: Regular, documented meetings with Chancellors, Vice Chancellors and other decision makers

Team performance: Team targets met, attrition and quality of hiring

Brand presence: Conferences, panels and forums addressed, and visibility gained in the region

    Compensation

The package has a fixed salary and a performance-linked incentive tied to revenue and pipeline targets for the region.

Fixed salary: 24 LPA +; commensurate with experience, existing salary and seniority

Variable incentive: linked to regional revenue, collections and new business targets
