Professor - Commerce

Role Description The Professor – Commerce role is a full-time, on-site position based at the Karunya campus in Coimbatore. The professor will design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in commerce and related disciplines, using current pedagogical methods and industry-relevant content. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, conducting lectures, tutorials, and seminars, mentoring learners, supervising projects and research work, and providing academic advising. The professor will engage in scholarly research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, participate in curriculum development, and contribute to departmental initiatives and institutional committees. Additional duties include continuous assessment of learner performance, maintaining academic records, supporting accreditation processes, and participating in outreach and professional development activities.

Qualifications

• Advanced academic background in Commerce or Ph.D. preferred; minimum of a Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration.
• Expertise in core commerce domains such as accounting, finance, business law, taxation, economics, and business management, with the ability to teach multiple subject areas.
• Demonstrated teaching competence, including course planning, learner-centered instruction, curriculum development, and use of educational technology and LMS platforms.
• Proven research and publication record or strong potential for scholarly work in commerce, business, or interdisciplinary fields relevant to the department.
• Strong communication, presentation, and academic writing skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
• Experience in mentoring learners, supervising projects or dissertations, and supporting academic and career development.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, participate in departmental and institutional governance, and contribute to community and industry outreach.
• Familiarity with current regulatory and accreditation requirements for higher education in India (e.g., UGC norms) and commitment to continuous professional development.
• Industry exposure, consultancy experience, or professional certifications (e.g., CA, CMA, CS, CFA, or similar) in commerce or finance are advantageous.
