About Pannini Educational Ventures – Gurukul

Gurukul is the primary-school-and-above brand of Pannini Educational Ventures, an education company building personalised, intelligence-oriented learning experiences.

At Gurukul, we believe education should go beyond memorisation and academic performance. We focus on deep conceptual understanding, inquiry-based learning, first-principles thinking, scientific temperament, curiosity, reasoning, and character development.

Our teachers act as facilitators and guides who encourage children to ask questions, experiment, explore, and discover. We value ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement.

    About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Physics & Projects Teacher who loves physics and enjoys helping children discover how the world works.

The role involves teaching Physics up to Grade 10 through experiments, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and inquiry-based learning. You will also facilitate maker and design projects, helping students apply scientific concepts to build real things, such as telescopes, pinhole cameras, and simple motors.

This is a hands-on, onsite role for someone who can make physics engaging, intuitive, and meaningful while helping students develop practical skills, independent thinking, and a scientific mindset.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Conceptual & Experiential Teaching

    • Teach Physics up to Grade 10, covering mechanics, heat, light and optics, sound, electricity and magnetism, and matter.
    • Build conceptual understanding from first principles, prioritising the why behind concepts over rote memorisation and formula-based learning.
    • Design and conduct hands-on experiments or demonstrations for major physics concepts.
    • Adapt teaching approaches to different learning speeds and individual student needs.

    2. Experimentation & Inquiry-Based Learning

    • Encourage students to predict, observe, experiment, analyse, and draw conclusions.
    • Use questioning and guided exploration to help students discover concepts independently.
    • Design, set up, and troubleshoot experiments using everyday materials and laboratory equipment.
    • Establish and maintain a safe, organised, and engaging physics lab and maker space.

    3. Maker & Project Facilitation

    • Facilitate cross-disciplinary, hands-on projects such as telescopes, pinhole cameras, and simple motors.
    • Guide students through project planning, resource identification, execution, documentation, presentation, and reflection.
    • Encourage students to take ownership of their builds rather than simply following instructions.
    • Develop students skills in planning, organisation, teamwork, communication, documentation, and problem-solving.
    • Set project milestones and deadlines, review plans before procurement, and guide students through challenges using thoughtful questions.

    4. Assessment & Documentation

    • Maintain lesson plans, experiment logs, student assessments, and project journals.
    • Assess conceptual understanding separately from project execution and final outcomes.
    • Identify gaps in understanding and use these insights to improve classroom teaching.
    • Track student engagement, participation, curiosity, and independent exploration.

    5. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

    • Work closely with the academic and curriculum teams and other subject facilitators.
    • Continuously improve experiments, learning materials, and project designs.
    • Take initiative in building and strengthening the physics and maker programme.
    Required Skills & Competencies
    • Strong conceptual understanding of Physics up to Grade 10.
    • Ability to explain complex concepts in simple, engaging, age-appropriate language.
    • Practical ability to design and conduct experiments and demonstrations safely.
    • Interest or aptitude in making, building, basic electronics, optics, and hands-on projects.
    • Ability to facilitate inquiry-based learning and encourage independent thinking.
    • Strong communication skills in English.
    • Willingness to learn, experiment, troubleshoot, and build learning systems from scratch.
    • A collaborative mindset, adaptability, patience, and a strong sense of ownership.

Knowledge of Kannada and/or Hindi is an added advantage.

    Qualifications & Experience
    • A background in Physics, Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
    • Teaching or tutoring experience in Physics up to Grade 10 is desirable.
    • Experience with laboratory experiments, maker activities, design projects, or experiential learning is an advantage.
    • Candidates with strong conceptual understanding, practical aptitude, and a genuine passion for teaching are encouraged to apply.
    What Success Looks Like
    • Students experience major physics concepts through experiments and demonstrations.
    • Students can explain the reasoning behind core concepts in their own words and design simple experiments to investigate questions.
    • Students complete hands-on projects and confidently present their work.
    • The physics lab and maker space become active environments for exploration, experimentation, and creation.
    • Students demonstrate increasing curiosity, participation, and enthusiasm for physics.
    Work Environment & Growth Opportunities

At Gurukul, you will be part of an evolving educational environment where teachers have the opportunity to build, experiment, take ownership, and shape how children learn.

A strong performer can grow into leading the Physics and Science programme, developing the maker and projects track, mentoring other teachers, and contributing to curriculum design.

We value conceptual depth, a facilitator's patience, scientific honesty, and a builder's initiative more than the length of a CV.

    Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's skills, capabilities, and experience.

If you love physics, enjoy building things, and want children to discover science rather than memorise it, we would love to hear from you.
