Role Summary & Context:

The Lead Performance Engineer / Performance Tester will design, script, execute, and analyze high volume load, stress, scalability, and endurance testing across the entire unified experience stack. You will partner with Frontend, Integration, and Core ERP Engineering teams to define nonfunctional requirements (NFRs), map user journeys to realistic volumetric load models, configure specialized performance testing tools, and diagnose critical bottlenecks in multi tier, distributed cloud environments.

This role requires a proactive professional who does not simply report metrics but actively isolates performance failures (such as memory leaks, thread contention, and slow database queries) and collaborates with development teams to implement architectural, code, and database optimizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Strategy & Volumetric Modeling:
. Define, document, and refine Non Functional Requirements (NFRs) (e.g., Response Time, Throughput, Concurrent Users, Resource Utilization) for the unified digital front door.
. Formulate robust, data driven Performance Test Plans based on production telemetry and realistic regional workload patterns across distributors and workshop centers.
. Model comprehensive test scenarios encompassing Load, Stress, Endurance/Soak, Spike, and Failover/Resilience testing.

Test Automation, Scripting & Execution
. Develop, maintain, and execute highly parameterized performance test scripts utilizing industry standard tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, or HP LoadRunner/Performance Center).
. Simulate complex multi step APIs, event driven integrations (Kafka/Azure Event Grid), and distributed state machine operations (Camunda workflows) under varying load conditions.
. Design and execute performance testing pipelines integrated seamlessly with CI/CD practices (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions) for automated regression level performance checks.

Deep Dive Bottleneck Analysis & Profiling
. Utilize modern Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, or Datadog) to gain end to end transaction visibility.
. Investigate latency across the entire user journey: from React/Next.js frontend rendering, API Gateway forwarding (Azure APIM/Kong), BFF processing, Java Spring Boot microservices execution, and Camunda state engine hops, down to target SAP ERP connector calls.
. Perform log analysis, database query profiling, JVM heap dump analysis, and thread contention investigations to isolate the root cause of high response times and error rates.

Collaboration, Reporting & Optimization
. Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Database Administration, and Cloud Operations teams to tune systems (e.g., JVM sizing, database connection pools, Kubernetes container scaling parameters, Redis caching strategies).
. Publish detailed performance execution reports with actionable recommendations for senior engineering leadership and program stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
. Testing Toolsets: Mastery of Apache JMeter or Gatling (Scala/Java based writing) is required. Experience with commercial suites (LoadRunner/NeoLoad) is a strong plus.
. Observability & APM: Hands on experience using modern APM platforms (specifically Dynatrace, Datadog, or AppDynamics) to analyze transaction traces and isolate resource bottlenecks.
. API & Integration Testing: Deep expertise in load testing REST/SOAP APIs, microservices architectures, and asynchronous event brokers (specifically Apache Kafka).
. Environment & Infrastructure: Solid understanding of cloud native infrastructure concepts (Kubernetes, AWS/Azure configurations, and container scaling policies).
. Database & Caching Profiling: Experience identifying slow SQL/NoSQL queries and evaluating the effectiveness of caching layers (such as Redis).

Professional Experience: 8+ years of experience in Performance Testing / Performance Engineering, with a proven track record of testing high scale, distributed B2B or B2B2C cloud applications.
