MEP Project Engineer/Manager

Experience Required: 10+ years in MEP contracting company, with at least 5 years in a project management or senior site management capacity

Qualifications Requirements

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Masters an advantage).

10+ years progressive experience in MEP contracting company, with proven track record managing projects from mobilization to handover.

Strong working knowledge of MEP systems: HVAC, plumbing drainage, fire protection, MV/LV electrical systems, and BMS (as applicable).

Job Purpose To plan, manage, and deliver MEP (Mechanical, Electrical Plumbing) installation projects from mobilization, technical value engineering through to final handover, ensuring works are executed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality and compliance standards. The role holds end-to-end accountability for site execution works, client and consultant coordination, technical value engineering, commercial, administration, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Project Mobilization Planning

Lead site mobilization activities including manpower planning, equipment/material logistics, temporary facilities, and site setup in line with contract requirements.

Develop and maintain the detailed project work program (baseline and updated schedules), ensuring alignment with the master construction programme. Plan resource allocation (labor, subcontractors, materials, equipment) to meet project milestones.

Site Execution Coordination

Oversee day-to-day execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation works across all project phases.

Coordinate with main contractors, consultants, architects, and other trade contractors to resolve interface and sequencing issues.

Chair and attend site progress meetings, technical coordination meetings, and client meetings; represent the MEP scope professionally.

Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes/standards, and HSE requirements.

Commercial Contractual Administration

Value engineering, finding room for variations, Prepare and review monthly valuations/interim payment applications in coordination with the QS/commercial team.

Identify, document, and process variation orders (VOs); support negotiation and agreement with clients/consultants.

Support preparation of the final account and ensure timely close-out of commercial matters.

Monitor project costs against budget and flag deviations early.

Documentation Reporting

Periodic progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly) covering physical progress, manpower, material status, and program status.

Manage RFI (Request for Information) and RFA (Request for Approval) submissions and track responses to avoid delays.

Maintain accurate site records, drawing registers, submittal logs, and as-built documentation.

Quality, Testing Commissioning

Oversee testing, commissioning, and inspection activities for MEP systems.

Ensure snagging/de-snagging is completed and closed out prior to handover.

Coordinate sign-o procedures with clients, consultants, and statutory authorities.

Handover Close-Out

Manage the full handover process including OM manuals, as-built drawings, warranties, and training documentation.

Conduct/coordinate training sessions for clients operations and maintenance sta on installed systems.

Ensure formal project sign-o and closure, including outstanding punch list items and final documentation handover. Team Leadership HSE

Supervise, mentor, and manage site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractor teams.

Enforce site health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and promote a zeroincident culture.
