MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Job purpose

The position is designed to carry out the maintenance work which includes Preventive/Breakdown maintenance and parts replacement on the assigned machine as per the maintenance request / report or maintenance checklists.

Acting under the guidance of Maintenance Supervisor, this position supports production team for smooth operation of the 

equipment/machine.

1. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBLITIES

3.1 Production & manufacturing:

• Responsible to carry out all maintenance work as per the request on the assigned 
• machine. 
• Resolve mechanical problems with hydraulic and pneumatic driven mechanical systems
• Carry out minor metal fabrication works involving cutting, welding, gas cutting etc
• Correlate product quality problems to machine settings where applicable so as to establish and eliminate the root cause.
• Ensure all tools, wastes and hazards from the workplace removed to avoid accidents and dirt contamination while carrying out the maintenance.
• Ensures the machine main electrical panel is OFF before starting the work. 
• Ensures the appropriate tools and accessories are made available to carry out the 

maintenance. 

• Coordinates with production department to assist in the maintenance work. 
• Responsible for machine ready for production after the maintenance.
• Responsible to complete the maintenance work in the specified/allocated time.
• Develops the defect list of all mechanical issues to be fixed during monthly 

maintenance

• Responsible to alert or report respective production Manager or Maintenance 
• Manager while doing maintenance for any major damage or unusual occurrence may 

take place or that may occur in the future.

3.2 Quality Assurance:

• Validation of the machine after maintenance as per the list for the work carried is 

perfect & no loose parts/items in the machine.

3.3 Safety & Hygiene:

• Compliances with the company's safety policy, food safety policy & procedures and the personal hygiene practices.
• Uses the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and apply the GMP/ GHP (Good Manufacturing Practices / Good Hygienic Practices) & Food safety principles.
• Cleans the work area regularly to keep work area dirt-free and hygienic.

3.4 Maintenance:

• Follow-up with Machine Operator(s) for daily CLInT (Clean, Lubricate, Inspect & Tighten) of machine for 5 minutes to avoid major breakdowns/downtime. Use only food grade lubricants for lubrication.
• Comply to the PM schedule for mechanical maintenance

QUALIFICATION– KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION TYPE AND LEVEL

Industrial secondary school or technical trade certificate or technical diploma.

PROFESSIONNAL EXPERIENCE LEVEL

1-2 years
