Mechanical Intern

Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Surface Design Engineer intern good in surface modeling tools and techniques, particularly in the context of motorcycle concept development. The ideal candidate will work closely with industrial designers and product engineers to translate concept sketches into high-quality A-class surfaces, ensuring aesthetic, ergonomic, and manufacturable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop and refine motorcycle concepts from sketch to production-ready surfaces.
• Interpret concept sketches and transform them into Class-A surfaces using CAD tools.
• Design and engineer exterior and interior components, ensuring aesthetic appeal and functionality
• Evaluate and select appropriate plastic materials considering mechanical properties, durability, and cost.
• Work closely with prototyping teams to create physical prototypes for design validation and knowledge in various types of rapid prototype methods.
• Conduct surface validation and quality checks to ensure curvature continuity, G2/G3 blending, and aesthetic intent.
• Convert A-class surfaces into Class B and Class C surfaces suitable for tooling and manufacturing.
• Ensure parametric and associative CAD modeling principles are followed for efficient design iteration.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to overall product styling, proportions, and surface flow.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Design, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Design, or related fields.
• 0-1 years of experience in surface design, preferably in two-wheeler or automotive product development.
• Strong understanding of Class-A surfacing principles and surface continuity standards.
• Proficiency in one or more CAD tools:
• CATIA V5/V6 (GSD/ICEM Surf),
• Autodesk Alias,
• Creo (Style/ISDX).
• Hands-on experience with concept sketch interpretation and 3D visualization.
• Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and plastic/metal part design.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
