The Role

Your Role

As a Mainframe Operations Specialist - Batch & Console at Kyndryl, you ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. Monitor and manage IBM z/OS production environments by performing console monitoring, system health checks, IPL support, and daily operational activities, while troubleshooting batch processing issues related to JCL, scheduling, datasets, and job execution to ensure high availability, stability, and operational excellence.

What You Will DO

• Monitor and manage batch job processing, job scheduling, and workload execution across the z/OS mainframe environment.
• Administer and support ZEKE job scheduling, including job setup, dependency management, schedule maintenance, forecasting, and production cycle management.
• Perform console operations, monitor system messages, respond to alerts, and execute operational commands following established procedures.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve batch job failures, abends, and scheduling issues to minimize business impact and meet SLA commitments.
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure timely execution of critical production processes.
• Monitor daily production activities, perform start-of-day and end-of-day checks, and ensure successful completion of batch cycles.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 6 to 8 years of experience in Mainframe Operations with strong production support expertise.
• Mandatory 3+ years of hands-on experience in ZEKE and CA7 batch scheduling tools.
• Provide Level 2 Batch Support, including JCL analysis, troubleshooting, and job recovery.
• Monitor and maintain production operating system resources, devices, and batch processing environments.
• Perform root cause analysis, incident resolution, escalation management, and recovery procedures for production systems.
• Execute automated system startup/shutdown activities and restart production subsystems such as CICS, IMS, DB2, and IDMS.
• Monitor scheduled batch jobs, resolve scheduling conflicts, and support change management activities to ensure seamless batch operations.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Monitor systems regularly for outstanding messages, batch abends, and operational issues to ensure stable production processing.
• Work from Chennai or Bangalore locations and provide support in a 24x7 rotational shift environment.
• Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and raise tickets with the appropriate support teams for resolution.
• Quickly assess issue severity, prioritize incidents, and initiate timely escalations when required.
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting capabilities to resolve production and batch-related issues efficiently.
