Mainframe Assembler

Location:

• Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune

Experience:

• 6–9 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe Assembler (z/OS) development.

Primary Skills (Mandatory):

• Mainframe Assembler (z/OS)
• JCL
• COBOL / PL1 / DB2 Integration

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

• IPCS / Abend-AID debugging tools
• Batch and online transaction processing
• Mainframe performance optimization
• Complex system logic analysis
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using Mainframe Assembler on z/OS.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex mainframe programs and system logic.
• Develop and maintain JCL for batch processing and production execution.
• Work with COBOL, PL1, and DB2 to support integrated mainframe applications.
• Debug production and application issues using tools such as IPCS and Abend-AID.
• Analyze system performance and optimize programs for improved efficiency.
• Support both batch and online transaction processing environments.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and application support teams.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployments, and production support activities.
• Ensure solutions follow established development, quality, and operational standards.

Candidate Should Have

• 6–9 years of hands-on Assembler/z/OS experience.
• Strong JCL knowledge.
• Practical experience with COBOL, PL1, and DB2 integration.
• Experience with IPCS and/or Abend-AID.
• Strong debugging and performance-tuning skills.
• Experience working in both batch and online environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
