Role Overview

The Legal Officer supports the Legal Team in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, monitoring statutory compliance, conducting legal research and tracking regulatory developments relevant to the Company's pharmaceutical business. The role requires sound legal drafting ability, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders and compliance owners in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Drafting & Contract Review

• Assist in drafting, reviewing and negotiating routine commercial and operational agreements, including NDAs, service agreements, vendor agreements, CFA agreements, supply agreements, confidentiality agreements, leave & licence agreements, consultancy agreements and other business contracts.
• Identify key legal and commercial risks in agreements and highlight them to senior team members.
• Maintain proper records of agreements, amendments and related legal documents.

2. Legal Compliance

• Assist in monitoring and coordinating legal and statutory compliances mapped on the Company's compliance management software.
• Follow up with respective compliance owners/reviewers for timely completion and submission of compliance activities.
• Assist in reviewing compliance status, identifying gaps and preparing reports for management.
• Support periodic compliance audits/assessments and assist in identifying potential legal and compliance risks.
• Apply working knowledge of applicable laws such as the Companies Act and Drugs and Cosmetics laws, DPDP Act, labour laws, commercial laws and other applicable legislation (additional knowledge will be an advantage).

3. Legal Research & Updates

• Conduct legal research on statutes, rules, notifications, judgments and regulatory developments relevant to the Company's business.
• Track important Supreme Court and High Court judgments, legislative amendments, notifications and regulatory developments, and prepare concise updates for the Legal Team.
• Assist in preparing daily/periodic legal updates covering significant legal and regulatory developments.
• Prepare legal notes, summaries and research-based inputs for senior team members.

4. General Legal Support

• Provide litigation support and other legal assistance to senior team members.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong contract drafting, vetting and negotiation support skills
• Working knowledge of the Companies Act, Drugs and Cosmetics laws, DPDP Act, labour and commercial laws
• Legal research and analytical ability, with clear and concise written summaries
• Ability to identify legal and commercial risks
• Familiarity with compliance management software and MIS reporting
• Strong follow-up, coordination and stakeholder management skills
• Attention to detail, good record-keeping and time management
