TerraTern is looking for a hands-on HR Generalist to lead HR operations and recruitment in a fast-paced startup environment. This role will own end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, build scalable HR practices, and partner closely with leadership and hiring managers to attract, onboard, and retain great talent.
Responsibilities
- Own the complete employee lifecycle, including onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, exit formalities, and offboarding.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update HR policies, SOPs, and the employee handbook.
- Manage attendance, leave, payroll inputs, employee records, documentation, and HRMS data accurately.
- Handle employee queries, grievances, disciplinary matters, and employee relations issues with confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
- Support performance management, engagement initiatives, and culture-building activities.
- Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and insights on headcount, attrition, hiring, attendance, and employee engagement for leadership.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, from understanding hiring requirements to sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, and onboarding.
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, create job descriptions, and design effective hiring processes.
- Source candidates through job portals, LinkedIn, employee referrals, and other channels.
- Conduct initial interviews, coordinate interview schedules, manage candidate communication, and ensure a strong candidate experience.
- Maintain recruitment trackers, hiring metrics, and talent pipelines.
- Support bulk and time-sensitive hiring requirements across functions.
- Build employer branding initiatives to strengthen the company's presence among prospective candidates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive HR experience, with strong exposure to both HR operations and recruitment.
- Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage full-cycle recruitment independently.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, employee lifecycle processes, and Indian labour law compliance.
- Hands-on experience with HRMS/ATS tools and MS Office/Google Workspace.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of confidentiality, ownership, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience setting up HR processes, policies, or an employee handbook in an early-stage company.
- Exposure to POSH compliance, employee engagement, and employer branding.
- Experience hiring across technical, sales, marketing, design, or operations roles.
