Established in 1981, Jai Bharat Gum & Chemicals Ltd. is part of the Jai Bharat Group, a Government of India-recognized Three Star Export House. We manufacture and export guar products and supply spices, oilseeds, pulses and grains to buyers in the Middle East and other international markets.

The role

Our established buyers in the Middle East have large, recurring demand for Ethiopian and other East African coffee. We are hiring an experienced green coffee buyer to set up and run our sourcing at origin, starting with Ethiopia. You will report directly to the Director.

What you will do

• Source Ethiopian green coffee (Lekempti and other naturals) and other East African coffees from licensed exporters, cooperative unions and processors

• Select and vet suppliers, and negotiate price, contract terms, payment terms and shipment schedules

• Control quality before shipment: pre-shipment samples, grading, moisture, defect count and cupping

• Manage contract execution from origin to vessel: documentation, inspection, stuffing and shipping via Djibouti or Mombasa

• Track crop, origin prices and export regulations, and advise on when and what to buy

• Travel to origin regularly to build and maintain supplier relationships

What you must have

• 7+ years in green coffee sourcing, procurement or trading

• Hands-on experience buying green coffee at origin in Ethiopia or East Africa (mandatory); Ethiopia experience is strongly preferred

• Export experience (mandatory): you have personally handled shipments from contract to bill of lading

• Existing working relationships with exporters, cooperative unions and processors at origin

• Working knowledge of green coffee grading and quality; Q Grader certification is a plus

• Fluent English; Amharic or Swahili is a plus

• Ready to be based at our Gurugram office with extensive travel to origin; candidates now in East Africa or the Gulf who are open to relocating are welcome

Good to have

• Experience supplying buyers in Saudi Arabia or the wider Gulf
