The successful candidate will lead FinOps discovery workshops, support RFPs and customer presentations, design operating models, oversee FinOps tool implementation and guide customers through complex cloud-cost and optimisation use cases. The role will also support the development of FinOps Analysts by providing process guidance and service-delivery training.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead customer discussions, solution presentations and RFP responses for new and existing customers.

Conduct FinOps discovery and maturity-assessment workshops.

Understand customer business objectives, cloud adoption plans and financial priorities.

Design and enhance FinOps frameworks covering governance, accountability, budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, chargeback/showback and optimisation.

Define FinOps operating models, stakeholder responsibilities and decision-making processes.

Advise customers on aligning cloud consumption with business KPIs, product roadmaps and financial goals.

Implement FinOps processes across the Inform, Optimise and Operate phases.

Establish tagging and labelling standards across cloud environments.

Define account, subscription, project and resource hierarchy structures.

Build cost-allocation models for applications, products, business units, shared services and customers.

Establish budget controls, cost guardrails and anomaly-detection workflows.

Define reporting, escalation and governance processes for cloud financial management.

Support the operational transition of FinOps processes to analysts and delivery teams.

    Tooling and Platforms

Lead the deployment and configuration of FinOps platforms such as Cloudability, CloudHealth, native cloud cost-management tools or equivalent solutions.

Define dashboards, reports and financial metrics for Engineering, Finance, Business and Executive stakeholders.

Guide the integration of cloud cost data with CMDB, ITSM, reporting and enterprise data platforms where required.

Ensure cost data is structured, allocated and presented in a manner that supports business decision-making.

Develop reusable reporting templates and FinOps implementation accelerators.

    Cloud Cost Optimisation

Work with Engineering, Platform and Architecture teams to identify and implement cloud optimisation opportunities.

Define reservation, Savings Plan and committed-use discount strategies.

Support rightsizing, scheduling, storage optimisation and licensing optimisation initiatives.

Drive Kubernetes and container cost-management programmes.

Identify idle, underutilised and incorrectly configured resources.

Translate technical optimisation opportunities into financial business cases.

Measure and communicate the financial impact of optimisation recommendations.

Support the development of automation policies for cost control and optimisation.

    Research and Continuous Improvement

Analyse complex cloud cost behaviour, pricing models, licensing considerations and emerging cloud services.

Research the cost implications of AI, data, container and shared-service workloads.

Develop FinOps best practices, templates, playbooks and reusable accelerators.

Monitor developments in cloud pricing, FinOps practices and cost-management tools.

Train and guide FinOps Analysts on processes, tools and service-delivery standards.

    Required Skills and Experience

Minimum of 6 years of experience in cloud, cloud cost optimisation, cloud financial management or FinOps.

Demonstrated involvement in cloud savings or cost-optimisation initiatives.

Strong experience with at least two major cloud providers, such as Azure, AWS, GCP or OCI.

Hands-on experience with FinOps tools such as Cloudability, CloudHealth, native cloud cost tools or equivalent platforms.

Good understanding of cloud pricing models, reservations, Savings Plans, committed-use discounts and licensing impacts.

Experience designing cost-allocation, budgeting, forecasting, chargeback or showback models.

Knowledge of tagging strategies, reporting hierarchies, budget controls and anomaly-detection processes.

Previous experience in consulting, advisory or customer-facing delivery roles.

Ability to explain technical cloud-cost information to Finance and Business stakeholders.

Strong documentation, presentation and workshop-facilitation skills.

Ability to work with cross-functional teams across Finance, Engineering, Architecture, Operations and Business functions.

    Preferred Qualifications

FinOps Certified Professional or FinOps Certified Practitioner.

Experience with Kubernetes cost management and shared-service cost allocation.

Familiarity with enterprise financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, accruals and chargeback.
