About this role
We are looking for a Financial Controller to oversee financial accounting, reporting, controls, budgeting, and compliance for an engineering/MEP business operating in Africa.
Location: East Africa
Experience: 5-6 years
Qualification: CA (Chartered Accountant)
Industry Preference: MEP / Engineering / Construction

- Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and MIS.
- Oversee GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Monitor project-wise financial performance, costs, margins, and cash flows.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Ensure proper accounting controls and compliance with applicable statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and other external stakeholders.
- Monitor receivables, payables, working capital, and cash flow.
- Review project costing, revenue recognition, and financial performance.
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of management reports.
- Support management in financial analysis and business decision-making.
- Lead and guide the finance/accounting team.
- CA qualification is mandatory.
- 5-6 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Prior work experience in Africa is mandatory.
- Candidates from MEP, Engineering, EPC, Construction, or related project-based industries preferred.
- Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and financial controls.
- Good understanding of project accounting and cost management.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in an international/project environment.
