Position Summary

The Financial Accountant supports the finance team across multiple sites and functions by managing financial reporting, general ledger activities, accounts payable support, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supports business decision-making, and contributes to improving financial performance through strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepare accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with accounting standards.
• Analyze financial results to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
• Support management reporting by providing meaningful financial insights.
• Assist with business cases, projects, and ad hoc financial analysis.
  
  

Compliance & Audit

• Ensure financial activities comply with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries.
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial data integrity.
• Perform control checks, including invoice discrepancy reviews, payment investigations, vendor query resolution, and electronic invoicing validation.
  
  

General Ledger & Reconciliations

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
• Process recurring journals and routine accounting transactions.
• Prepare control accounts and supporting schedules for inventory, payables, receivables, and intercompany balances.
• Support master data maintenance across multiple sites.
  
  

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Analyze and explain variances between actual performance, budgets, and forecasts.
• Support financial modelling and planning activities.
  
  

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with finance teams and business stakeholders to provide financial support and insights.
• Assist stakeholders with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Provide timely responses to financial queries and support informed decision-making.
  
  

General Finance Support

• Provide day-to-day accounting and finance support across business operations.
• Assist with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within finance processes.
  
  

Key Challenges

• Managing workloads during peak reporting periods.
• Keeping up with changing accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Adapting to new financial systems and process improvements.

Mandatory

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CA qualification preferred.
• 6-10 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to work across time zones to support Australian reporting deadlines.
  
  

Preferred

• Experience working in a multi-site or multinational organization.
