Job Description (JD): ETL DataStage

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ETL workflows using IBM InfoSphere DataStage 11.7.15 (Parallel/Server jobs as applicable).
• Analyze source-to-target mappings and translate requirements into DataStage jobs, sequences, and reusable components.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) for large volumes with performance and scalability best practices.
• Perform root-cause analysis for job failures, data issues, and performance bottlenecks; implement fixes and preventive controls.
• Follow SDLC practices (development, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, production support).
• Create and maintain technical documentation (job design, runbooks, support procedures).
• Collaborate with upstream/downstream teams (DBAs, reporting, application teams) to ensure end-to-end data flow reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on ETL development experience with IBM ETL DataStage
• Strong understanding of ETL concepts: joins/lookups, aggregations, SCD, incremental loads, error handling, restartability, audit controls.
• Solid SQL skills; comfortable using TOAD and/or Oracle SQL Developer for query development and tuning.
• Experience working on Linux/Unix environments; proficient with basic shell commands and log analysis (PuTTY usage).
• Understanding of production support processes: incident/problem management, on-call support, SLA-driven troubleshooting.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Basic shell scripting for automation (e.g., Korn/Bash).
• Experience with performance tuning in DataStage (partitioning, buffering, parallelism, staging strategy).
• Knowledge of ETL operational controls: reject handling, reconciliation, checkpoint/restart strategies.
• Exposure to CI/CD or deployment processes for ETL (if applicable).
• Prior experience in regulated/enterprise environments with strong process controls.
