CORE MACHINE OPERATOR

Responsibility: 

Manufacture cores by use of machine or by hand ramming to required standard of casting to be produced Work at required set rate for core box productivity Work using the required PPE 

Work performed 

1.Inspect cores to ensure they are of required quality to produce good castings 

2.Operate machine at maximum efficiency and record hourly performance 

3. Be familiar with all aspects of machine and be able to report accurately any faults that occur 

4. Ensure that machine is kept clean and that the work area reflects the high standard of housekeeping required by SMI 2 

5. Inspect the core box on a regular basis during production to ensure tooling is at required standard 

6. Be capable of controlling coating thickness and be able to brush or dip coat cores produced 

Qualifications: 

1. Minimum of 2 years machine operation experience 

2. If hand core maker –served 4 year Foundry apprenticeship 

3. Have the ability to carry out instructions from SOP & parameter sheets and to be able to record data on sheets on a regular basis 

4. Must be good in spoken English 

5. Be physically fit
