Job Title: Commi Chef

Reports To: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef / Head Chef

Job Summary:

A Commi Chef is an entry-level position in a professional kitchen. The role involves assisting senior chefs in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, learning kitchen operations, and developing culinary skills. This is a foundational role designed to provide training and experience to advance within a professional kitchen hierarchy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation and cooking of dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
• Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the Head Chef.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment.
• Ensure all food items are stored and handled according to safety and hygiene standards.
• Learn and apply proper knife skills and cooking techniques.
• Support the kitchen team in daily operations and service.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries properly.
• Comply with food safety, health, and safety regulations.
• Attend training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
• A culinary qualification or relevant experience (preferred but not always required).
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take direction.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
