About the Role
Were looking for a sharp, tech-curious Chartered Accountant to own our Income Tax Filing product end to end. You’ll be the bridge between tax law and software: translating the Income Tax Act, CBDT notifications, and ITR utility changes into product features that make filing accurate, fast, and painless for taxpayers across India.
What You’ll Own
- Product strategy and roadmap for ITR filing across salaried, business, professional, capital gains, and NRI segments
- Tax logic and rule engine: define, validate, and maintain computation logic, deductions, regime comparison (old vs. new), and schedule-wise mapping for ITR-1 to ITR-4 (and beyond)
- Regulatory readiness: track Budget changes, CBDT circulars, the Income-tax Act 2025 transition, and annual ITR form and utility changes, and ship updates before every filing season
- Product requirements: write clear PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineers and designers can build from
- Data integrations: work with AIS/26AS, Form 16, bank, broker, and TDS data flows, plus e-filing portal APIs and JSON schema validations
- Quality and accuracy: build test cases and edge-case scenarios, and own UAT before every release
- User experience: simplify complex tax concepts into intuitive flows, and reduce drop-offs, errors, and notices
- Metrics: own filing completion rate, error and rejection rate, time-to-file, NPS, and support ticket trends
- Cross-functional leadership: work with engineering, design, support, and CA/tax-expert teams, and guide the filing-season war room
- Voice of the customer: analyze support queries, notices, and user feedback to drive continuous improvement
Must-Have Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (qualified), with 2-3 years of experience in direct tax, tax tech, or a tax advisory/Big 4/ITR filing environment
- Strong command of Indian income tax law, especially ITR filing, TDS, capital gains, house property, and business/professional income
- Demonstrated interest in technology: you’ve built, used, or worked closely with software, automation, or data tools
- Excellent analytical and structured problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially in turning complex rules into simple specs
- High ownership and comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Good to Have
- Exposure to product management, tax-tech, fintech, or ERP/accounting software
- Working knowledge of SQL, Excel/Sheets automation, or basic Python
- Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and Jira/Notion/Figma
- Experience with AIS/TIS reconciliation, notices, or faceless assessments
- Additional certifications (DISA, Data Analytics, Product Management)
