Job Title: Project Buyer
At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.
More than a job: a mission
We're looking for a Project Buyer to ensure the best sourcing strategies and supplier partnerships for our projects in Madrid. This is a high-impact role where supplier performance, competitiveness and delivery reliability directly contribute to the success of critical mobility solutions. You'll work alongside people who show up with ownership, passion, and dedication - because they know what's at stake: the journey home.
Your role, your impact
- Define and execute sourcing strategies for tenders and projects
- Lead supplier selection, evaluation and performance management activities
- Conduct market analysis to identify competitive sourcing alternatives
- Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing and contractual terms with suppliers
- Support supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage supplier non-conformities and claims resolution
- Coordinate with Supply Chain teams to ensure on-time and on-budget project deliveries
- Drive procurement performance through cost optimisation and risk management initiatives
You'll work with sharp, committed teams across engineering, supply chain and project management - solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility.
What you bring
- Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing and project procurement environments
- Intermediate to advanced English level
- Experience working with SAP
- Strong negotiation, analytical and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic project environment
How success is measured
- Achievement of QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery) objectives
- Savings and procurement performance targets
- Supplier performance indicators, including OTIF and NCR management
- Competitive sourcing solutions and risk mitigation effectiveness
- Collaboration and support provided to project and supply chain teams
Alstom, a great place to grow
- Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
- Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
- Contribute to innovative projects
- Utilise our cooperative working environment
- Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
- Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
- Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage
Here, progress isn't always easy - the scale is massive, the tasks are complex - but the impact is real. Because when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects - that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
