Backend Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities: - Design and develop scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript. - Build REST APIs for marketplace, payment, and partner integrations. - Design systems for high transaction volumes with reliability and performance. - Own features end-to-end from design to deployment and monitoring. - Collaborate with product, founders, and frontend teams to launch new features. - Improve platform performance, security, scalability, and observability. - Build solutions for payments, digital commerce, catalogue management, and transaction workflows. Requirements: - Strong ownership mindset. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup. - Ability to solve problems independently. - Passion for building scalable backend systems. - Focus on writing clean, maintainable, and production-ready code. - 2+ years of backend development experience. - Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and JavaScript. - Good knowledge of TypeScript. - Experience with Express.js or NestJS. - Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems. - Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB. - Good understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimisation. - Experience working in product startups or high-growth environments. Good to Have: - Experience with fintech, payments, wallets, or marketplace platforms. - Payment gateway and third-party API integrations. - Experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. - Monitoring and observability tools.
