AVP Legal (NBFC / Structured Finance)

Role Summary

Our client, a fast scaling wealth NBFC in Mumbai, is looking for an AVP, Legal to independently run transactions and legal structuring for its NBFC business.

This is a deal heavy role: the candidate will spend the majority of their time structuring, negotiating and closing facilities and products such as loan against securities, loan against property and structured liabilities (NCDs, commercial paper, PTCs), with the balance of time on general legal support.

We need someone with hands on NBFC or structured finance transaction experience who can work independently with minimal oversight, ideally from a law firm background or an in house legal team with strong NBFC exposure.

Role Details

• Title: AVP, Legal (4-6 PQE)
• Location: Mumbai (in-office, 5 days/week)

Key Responsibilities

• Independently structure, negotiate and run transactions across the NBFC's lending products, including loan against securities and loan against property facilities
• Provide legal structuring support on structured products: NCDs, commercial paper, PTCs and other structured liabilities
• Draft, review and negotiate facility agreements, security documents and other transaction documentation, working closely with business and credit teams
• Handle general legal work as needed, including NDAs and other routine commercial agreements
• Partner closely with the business and credit teams to guide deal structuring
• Support compliance and risk teams on regulatory matters relevant to NBFC operations

Requirements

• 4 to 6 years of PQE, with hands on experience in NBFC, banking or structured finance transactions
• Proven experience independently running and closing transactions end to end, without needing significant oversight
• Working knowledge of structured products: NCDs, commercial paper, PTCs and structured liabilities
• Experience with loan against securities and/or loan against property is strongly preferred
• Background at a law firm with an active NBFC/banking/structured finance practice, or an in house legal team at an NBFC or bank
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with sound commercial judgment
• Comfortable in a lean team, high ownership environment with significant hands-on deal responsibility
