Asst. Manager - Supply Chain Management

Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager - SCM will oversee day-to-day supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory control, logistics coordination, and vendor management. The role requires hands-on proficiency in Tally ERP for transaction and inventory records and advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting, so that materials are available at the right time, quantity, and cost.

Procurement and vendor management

• Raise purchase requisitions and purchase orders, and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
• Source, evaluate, and develop vendors; negotiate prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain vendor performance records (quality, delivery, pricing) and conduct periodic reviews.
• Obtain and compare quotations, and prepare comparative statements.

Logistics and distribution

• Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound transportation with transporters and 3PL partners.
• Track shipments, resolve delays or damages, and verify freight bills.
• Ensure compliance with e-way bill, GST, and other statutory documentation.

Tally ERP and accounting coordination

• Record purchase, sales, stock journal, and inventory vouchers in Tally ERP accurately and on time.
• Reconcile vendor ledgers, and coordinate with the accounts team on bill passing, payments, and GST input credit matching.
• Generate stock summary, ageing, purchase register, and outstanding reports from Tally.

Reporting and analysis (Excel)

• Prepare MIS reports on purchases, inventory, cost savings, lead times, and stock turnover.
• Use Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, IF logic, conditional formatting, charts) to analyses data and support decisions.
• Track KPIs such as OTIF, inventory days, stock-out rate, and procurement cost variance.

Team and cross-functional coordination

• Supervise and guide junior SCM, store, and dispatch staff.
• Coordinate with production, sales, finance, and quality teams to align supply with demand.
• Support process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Engineering. MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations is preferred.
• 4-7 years of experience in procurement, inventory, or supply chain, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
• Skills and Competencies

Technical

• Working knowledge of Tally ERP 9 / TallyPrime: vouchers, inventory masters, GST, and reports.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data cleaning; basic MIS dashboarding is a plus.
• Understanding of GST, e-way bills, and purchase/inventory documentation.
