Associate Virtual Designer (Detailer)

Job Summary

vConstruct, a Pune-based Construction Technology company, is seeking a Detailer with experience in structural steel detailing and drawing production using Tekla Structures. This role is responsible for independently preparing and updating accurate fabrication, erection, and field work drawings for assigned work, ensuring compliance with project requirements, detailing standards, quality expectations, and delivery schedules.

The Detailer works closely with Senior Detailers, Modelers, Checkers, Project Leads and other project team members to produce high-quality drawing deliverables that support efficient fabrication and erection. The role also contributes to drawing revision management, quality improvement, and the continued development of technical expertise in structural steel detailing practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, update, and maintain fabrication shop, erection, and field work drawings using Tekla Structures in accordance with project requirements, client standards, and established detailing practices.
• Support the preparation and revision of General Arrangement (GA) drawings for anchor bolt and erection plans, and other project-specific drawing deliverables.
• Verify dimensions, member marks, assembly marks, bolt information, weld information, and drawing references for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, and drawing-related issues. Coordinate with Senior Detailers, Modellers, Checkers, and other project team members to resolve routine issues and escalate matters requiring further technical clarification.
• Apply project-specific drawing standards, templates, layouts, revision procedures, and workflows consistently throughout project execution.
• Perform self-checks before submitting drawings for review. Address feedback from Senior Detailers, Checkers, and project team members to improve drawing accuracy and minimize revisions and rework.
• Complete assigned drawing tasks within agreed schedules and communicate progress, technical challenges, and potential delivery concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Ensure revisions are correctly identified, clouded, tagged, and documented in accordance with project requirements. Maintain drawing issue logs, revision records, and related documentation as required.
• Participate in technical training, knowledge-sharing sessions, and skill development activities. Build knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection practices, drawing requirements, and revision control.
• Support improvements to detailing procedures, drawing templates, layouts, and workflows. Contribute ideas to improve drawing quality, consistency, productivity, and delivery efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
• 2+ years of experience in structural steel detailing, with hands-on experience in drawing production.
• Experience preparing and revising fabrication, erection, and field work drawings using the Tekla Structures drawing environment.
• Basic understanding of structural steel fabrication, connections, and erection practices.
• Working knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. structural steel detailing practices.

Technical Skills

• Intermediate proficiency in the Tekla Structures drawing environment.
• Structural steel fabrication and shop drawing preparation.
• Erection drawing preparation and revision.
• Field work drawing creation and editing.
• Knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. structural steel detailing practices.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar review and markup tools.
• Drawing quality control and self-review processes.
