About The Role

Join our flexible tester pool to test the NookRental Android app on your own phone. Assignments depend on what the app needs tested and on the device you have; you follow a short set of instructions, use the app the way a guest or host would, and tell us exactly what you found. You will need an Android phone and a NookRental account, which you create at nookrental.com/auth with a valid email address before any interview with the team.

What you'll do

• Install the NookRental Android app from Google Play, keep it updated, and sign in with the NookRental account you created when you applied
• Follow the assignment instructions for the core flows: search, listings, booking, messages, and host tools
• Check permissions, notifications, saving, error recovery and what happens when the app goes to the background
• Check navigation, form validation, loading states and layout on the Android devices named in the assignment
• Record every issue with the steps to reproduce it, what you expected, what actually happened, your device model, Android version, and screenshots or a screen recording
• Complete the agreed feedback and any retesting within the assignment scope, even when you find no bugs
  
  

What we're looking for

• Careful observation, patience, and a methodical way of working through a checklist
• An Android phone you can install apps on, with a recent version of Android. You do not need more than one device
• Ability to describe a problem clearly and to tell what you expected apart from what actually happened
• Reliable communication, internet access, and the ability to follow test instructions
• No formal QA background required; relevant experience is a plus
  
  

Helpful experience

• Experience testing installed Android or iOS apps, or mobile-browser experiences
• Familiarity with bug-tracking tools, screen recording, or structured test cases
• Familiarity with travel or booking apps
  
  

Assignments & compensation

• Assignments are offered as needed, with no guaranteed weekly hours or ongoing work
• Before you accept, each assignment states the tasks, the required device, the estimated time, the deadline, the payment amount and the payment schedule
• You may accept or decline individual assignments. Payment covers completing the agreed testing and feedback, including when no bugs are found
• Planned light-testing engagement: $10 per tester per week for approximately 20 to 30 minutes in total per week, including the required feedback
• The planned engagement runs for six weeks, with $60 in total per tester for completing all six weeks
• That is the planned light-testing engagement, not a rate for every app-testing assignment. No start date or immediate placement is promised
• More extensive QA, detailed booking-flow testing, or work beyond the light-testing scope needs a separately agreed scope and payment
