Zonal Legal Manager

The role shall involve continuous monitoring of SARFAESI actions, Section 138 execution, CAC matters, and police complaints, while ensuring that all legal actions are carried out within prescribed timelines.

The role will also include visiting critical accounts jointly with the Collections Team to explain legal consequences, support recovery efforts, and ensure that SARFAESI and 138 actions translate into effective ground-level execution. These visits help assess the seriousness of the customer, resolve resistance, and support the Collections Team in cases requiring legal intervention.

The work shall be in close coordination with the Collections Team to ensure legal and recovery plans complement each other. This includes identifying critical accounts, planning joint visits, assessing readiness for SARFAESI/138 filings, and ensuring timely police complaints or applications where needed.

The role shall also include managing CACs filed within the zone requires coordination with advocates for representation before DRTs, DRAT, High Courts, Civil Courts, and other forums. Variations in local practices and documentation requirements across different states add complexity, requiring strong follow-up and alignment with zonal teams.

Timely action across a large region, coordination with multiple stakeholders, documentation quality, ground-level execution challenges, and supporting the Collections Team on high-risk accounts remain key operational challenges of the role.

Role & responsibilities

Execution of SARFAESI Actions

• Monitoring that actions under SARFAESI is duly and timely executed i.e., 13(2), 13(4), and Section 14 actions.
• Ensure ground-level execution through joint visits with the Collections Team wherever required.
• Coordinate with advocates and teams for timely completion.

Effective Management of Section 138 Proceedings

• Track and monitor that summons, warrants, proclamation orders issued against the customers are duly and effectively served.
• Conduct/coordinate joint field visits in cases requiring strong follow-up recovery.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Police Complaints, FIRs & Private Complaints

• File complaints in coordination with legal and collections teams.
• Support Collections Team through field visits in fraud/high-risk cases.
• Maintain proper follow-up with authorities.

Handling Cases Against the Company (CAC)

• Ensure timely replies and representation before various courts.
• Coordinate with advocates for filing and hearing management.
• Provide updates and MIS to central team.

Zonal Team Coordination & Guidance

• Guide RLMs/ALMs on filings, documentation, and case strategy.
• Work in tandem with the Collections Team to support recovery plans.
• Resolve operational and legal bottlenecks through proactive coordination.

Stakeholder & Advocate Management

• Liaise with empaneled advocates across states.
• Support collections and business teams with legal insights and actions.
• Ensure timely responses and quality filings.

Joint Visits & On-ground Execution Support

• Conduct field visits in critical and high-value cases with the Collections Team.
• Communicate legal consequences to customers during visits.
• Strengthening conversion of legal actions into effective resolutions.

Reporting & MIS Management

• Share zone-wise updates on SARFAESI, 138, CAC, and police complaints.
• Maintain accuracy of trackers and dashboards.
• Highlight critical accounts and progress of joint actions.

Preferred candidate profile

LLB with min 12-14Yrs of exp in handling matters related to SARFAESI, Section 138/ 25, Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016, Fraud, criminal cases, police complaints, compliances, in HL / LAP portfolio
