About a minute. You'll make an account on the way through.
About this role
The Unfiltered Startup is a business and entrepreneurship media brand focused on startups, money, marketing, e-commerce, business psychology, and the uncomfortable realities of building a company.
We are building a YouTube channel that prioritizes attention, storytelling, strong opinions, and useful information over generic motivational content.
What You'll Do
* Edit YouTube long-form videos and Shorts for The Unfiltered Startup.
* Turn raw talking-head footage into engaging, high-retention videos.
* Add B-roll, stock footage, screenshots, memes, graphics, sound effects, and music where appropriate.
* Create strong visual hooks during the first 5–30 seconds.
* Use pattern interrupts to maintain viewer attention.
* Add captions, kinetic text, zooms, transitions, and motion graphics without making the video look over-edited.
* Research and source relevant B-roll, screenshots, articles, tweets, websites, and visual references.
* Repurpose long-form videos into multiple Shorts/Reels.
* Understand YouTube retention and make editing decisions based on watch time and audience retention, not just aesthetics.
* Work closely with the founder/content team to understand the intended narrative and pacing.
* Make revisions quickly based on feedback.
What We're Looking For
You don't need to be an expert editor.
We care more about whether you understand attention and storytelling.
Must Have
* Good understanding of YouTube editing.
* Strong sense of pacing and storytelling.
* Familiarity with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar.
* Ability to find good B-roll and visual references.
* Understanding of basic sound design, music, captions, and transitions.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Willingness to experiment and improve rapidly.
Huge Plus
* Experience editing business, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, or documentary-style content.
* Motion graphics skills.
* After Effects knowledge.
* Experience creating YouTube Shorts/Reels.
* Understanding of YouTube analytics and retention graphs.
* Ability to create thumbnails or assist with thumbnail concepts.
* Familiarity with AI video/image editing tools.
The Editing Style We're Looking For
Think:
MrBeast-level retention thinking + documentary storytelling + sharp business commentary.
Not:
Random zoom → meme → whoosh sound → transition → repeat.
Every edit should have a reason.
If the viewer is getting bored, change the visual.
If a statement is important, make it visually memorable.
If something can be shown instead of said, show it.
Your Key KPI
Your job isn't to make videos that look pretty.
Your job is to make people keep watching.
We'll evaluate you on:
* Audience retention
* Average view duration
* Hook strength
* Pacing
* Storytelling
* Quality of B-roll
* Editing consistency
* Speed of execution
* Ability to improve after feedback
What You'll Get
* Hands-on experience working directly with a founder.
* Exposure to the complete YouTube content production process.
* Experience building a business-focused media brand from the ground up.
* Opportunity to work on videos covering startups, business, marketing, e-commerce, money, and entrepreneurship.
* Potential for a full-time role based on performance.
* High ownership and freedom to experiment.
Who Should NOT Apply
Don't apply if:
* You only know basic CapCut templates.
* You need someone to tell you exactly where every cut should go.
* You care more about flashy transitions than storytelling.
* You are uncomfortable receiving blunt feedback.
* You consistently miss deadlines.
* You want an internship certificate more than actual experience.
