Workday Reporting Developer

Scope and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain well-structured, user-friendly Workday reports and dashboards, primarily in the Workday Financials module
• Apply best practices in report design, including layout, usability, performance, and data clarity
• Build reports based on documented business requirements and technical specifications
• Partner directly with finance, accounting, and business stakeholders to gather, refine, and validate reporting requirements
• Translate functional and business needs into effective Workday reporting designs and solutions
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all delivered reports
• Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT) for reports
• Troubleshoot, enhance, and optimize existing reports for performance and usability
• Support reporting deliverables related to major initiatives (e.g., GL migration, financial transformations)
• Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams as needed
• Adhere to SDLC and change management processes

Experience Required

• Proven experience developing custom Workday reports and dashboards, with a strong focus on Workday Financials
• Demonstrated report design experience, including:
• Translating business requirements into effective report layouts
• Designing reports for executive, operational, and analytical audiences
• Optimizing reports for usability, performance, and scalability
• Proficiency with Workday Report Writer (Advanced, Matrix, and Composite reports)
• Strong understanding of financial data structures and accounting concepts
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders in an onshore or client-facing role
• Ability to clearly communicate technical and design concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• 1-2 years of HCM reporting experience
