About this role
Job Purpose Wintel Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise Microsoft Operating System, messaging systems, identity services and virtualization platforms. The role ensures high availability, security, operational efficiency, capacity management, and service continuity of Windows Server environments, Active Directory services, Exchange/Microsoft 365 messaging platforms, and virtualization technologies across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Windows Server Administration Install, configure, administer, and maintain Windows Server environments. Manage server lifecycle activities including provisioning, patching, upgrades, hardening, and decommissioning. Monitor server health, resource utilization, system performance, and availability. Troubleshoot and resolve Windows OS-related incidents and performance issues. Manage DNS, DHCP, File Services, Print Services, DFS, and Group Policies.
- Active Directory & Identity Management Administer Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) infrastructure. Manage user accounts, groups, organizational units, policies, and access controls. Configure and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs). Manage Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Hybrid Identity solutions. Support Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID) integration and synchronization. Ensure identity governance, authentication, and authorization compliance.
- Messaging & Collaboration Administration Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration and messaging services. Support mail flow management, transport rules, anti-spam, anti-malware, and mail security policies. Perform mailbox provisioning, migration, archiving, retention, and recovery activities. Troubleshoot mail delivery issues, Outlook connectivity, and collaboration services. Support hybrid Exchange and Microsoft 365 deployments.
- Virtualization Administration Install, configure, and administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Microsoft Hyper-V environments. Manage virtual machines, clusters, templates, snapshots, storage, and networking. Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and performance tuning. Configure High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), vMotion, and disaster recovery solutions. Support virtual infrastructure upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Security & Compliance Implement Microsoft security best practices across Windows, AD, and Exchange environments. Manage Windows Server hardening and security baseline compliance. Support vulnerability assessments and remediation activities. Implement identity security controls including MFA, Conditional Access, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). Ensure adherence to organizational security, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity Manage backup and recovery solutions for Windows, AD, Exchange, and virtual infrastructure. Conduct regular restoration testing and disaster recovery drills. Ensure infrastructure compliance with organizational RPO/RTO objectives. Support business continuity planning and execution.
- Monitoring & Operations Configure and maintain infrastructure monitoring tools and operational dashboards. Proactively monitor system health and performance metrics. Participate in Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and outages.
- Automation & Infrastructure Modernization Develop automation using PowerShell, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and scripting frameworks. Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), configuration management, and cloud integration initiatives. Assist in cloud migration and hybrid infrastructure transformation projects. Implement operational automation and service optimization initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Network, Application, and Service Delivery teams. Support audits, customer reviews, governance meetings, and compliance assessments. Mentor junior administrators and provide technical leadership.
Experience & Educational Requirement BE/B-Tech or equivalent with Computer Science or Electronics & Communication
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Minimum
8 - 12 years of experience managing enterprise Windows Server environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Identity Services.
- Experience administering Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft 365 messaging platforms.
- Extensive experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V & Nutanix virtualization platforms.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and hybrid identity environments.
- Experience in enterprise managed services and 24x7 operations environments.
- Strong exposure to automation, monitoring, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
