Windows Server & Virtualization Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Windows Server & Virtualization Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure the organization s virtualization and Windows server infrastructure. The candidate should have hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Windows Failover Clustering, and enterprise-class virtualization environments. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, and operational efficiency across virtualized platforms while supporting infrastructure growth, patch management, and compliance initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft Hyper-V Failover Clusters, including Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), quorum/witness configurations, virtual networking, and Hyper-V Replica.
• Administer and support VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server environments, including High Availability (HA) and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) configurations.
• Manage Windows Failover Clustering across enterprise virtualization platforms to ensure optimal uptime and business continuity.
• Provision, configure, modify, migrate, and decommission virtual machines using vCenter, SCVMM, Hyper-V Manager, and Windows Admin Center.
• Monitor cluster health, virtualization performance, storage utilization, datastore capacity, and system alerts; perform regular cluster validation and health checks.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot storage connectivity technologies including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SMB 3.0, MPIO, and HBA configurations in collaboration with storage teams.
• Monitor physical server health using vendor management tools such as iDRAC and iLO, coordinate hardware support activities, and manage vendor escalations.
• Implement and maintain virtualization and server security best practices, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Plan and execute server and virtualization platform patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, standard operating procedures, and disaster recovery processes.
• Participate in infrastructure capacity planning, performance tuning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide operational support and promptly resolve virtualization and server-related incidents and service requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4-6 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise Windows Server and virtualization environments.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Failover Clustering, Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), quorum configurations, and Hyper-V Replica.
• Experience administering VMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter Server, HA, and DRS.
• Proficiency with virtualization management tools such as SCVMM, Hyper-V Manager, Windows Admin Center, and vCenter.
• Solid understanding of enterprise storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SMB 3.0, MPIO, and HBA management.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam, Commvault, or equivalent enterprise backup platforms.
• Hands-on experience with physical server hardware, firmware management, and remote administration tools such as Dell iDRAC and HPE iLO.
• Knowledge of server hardening, virtualization security controls, vulnerability management, and patch management processes.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
