Job Description

We’re hiring a Windows Server Performance Engineer for a 6-month onsite engagement at a client site in Baner, Pune. The contract can be extended depending on project needs. You’ll find and fix performance bottlenecks across Windows Server environments, carry out root cause analysis, and automate diagnostics with PowerShell.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and tune the performance of Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
• Use PerfMon, Resource Monitor and Windows Performance Toolkit (WPR/WPA) to find CPU, memory, disk I/O and network bottlenecks.
• Troubleshoot server slowness, hangs, crashes, high resource use and service failures.
• Do root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring and critical incidents, and write clear RCA reports with corrective and preventive actions.
• Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for health checks, performance data collection and routine automation.
• Analyse Event Viewer logs, performance counters and Sysinternals output to diagnose issues.
• Recommend and apply server configuration and tuning changes following best practices.
• Work with application, network and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-functional performance issues.
• Maintain documentation of performance baselines, findings and fixes.

Required Skills

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.
• Strong working knowledge of PerfMon and performance counters.
• Proven experience in performance tuning and RCA.
• Good PowerShell scripting skills.
• Understanding of Windows internals: processes, memory management, storage and networking.
• Good communication skills for client-facing onsite work.

Good to Have

• Experience with WPR/WPA and Sysinternals tools (Process Monitor, Process Explorer).
• Exposure to Active Directory, IIS and Hyper-V/VMware.
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Windows Server Hybrid Administrator).
