Reports to:  Works Manager

JOB PURPOSE

Own safe, efficient production of welded mine mesh to specification and volume, managing the mesh welding line, its crew and its output quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Run the automatic mesh welding line to daily output and quality targets.
• Supervise line supervisor, machine operators, welders and helpers.
• Control wire feed, weld settings, mesh dimensions and weld-shear strength.
• Manage changeovers between mesh specifications and aperture sizes.
• Monitor scrap, wire consumption and weld-electrode wear.
• Enforce guarding, lock-out and safe operation of the welding line.
• Coordinate with QA on weld-strength and dimensional sampling.
• Maintain production records and shift handover.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or trade certification in welding/fabrication.
• Training on resistance/mesh welding equipment an advantage.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 5+ years in wire/mesh production, welding or steel fabrication, with 2+ years supervising a line.
• Familiarity with resistance welding and mesh-welding machines preferred.
